One Pill, Two Pill, Red Pill, Blue Pill

I finally watched the second Animatrix installment. I was not really blown away. After the first one was so expository, I was looking forward to this one being more story-oriented. But the "story" was so thin and the dialogue so schlocky that I was disappointed.

Then I watched the Japanese dub and enjoyed it much more. Once I didn't have to listen to the dialogue, I could focus on the animation, which I thought was stylish. (Not that I'm an expert.) And I liked the voices better.

I still have the Japanese Phantom Menace trailer around somewhere. My Star Wars friends and I were really impressed by that, as I recall. When we heard Yoda, we decided all his dialogue should be in Japanese henceforth. He sounded so much more masterful and scary. (No offence, Frank!)

But it did make it seem like Anakin should have been one of those little short-pantsed monster movie kids. And maybe he should have been. "JarJar is friend to all children!"

We tried for a while to get hold of Star Wars Japanese dubs but never quite managed. Apparantly the original trilogy ones are really great.

I've wanted to study Japanese but then I wouldn't be able to enjoy stuff like this. Hmm.
