- I have finally finished the horrifying first draft of the last Chris/Georgi story! It's twice as long as I hoped it would be and it's probably going to take 6 - 10 hours of editing just to get it beta-worthy but it exists and that's enough for today. ♥

- Next on the list are two non-YOI exchange stories, one for Harumeku, a Prince of Tennis (my forever fandom) exchange, and the other for the Inter-High Exchange (IHX), sports manga/anime in general, which did include YOI but I decided not to offer it because I have enough of a list of my own to work through before SASO starts up again. My beta did tell me I was burnt out and should relax by writing some gratuitous porn, though, so some more YOI will probably sneak in there.

- I recently started playing in a new Pathfinder campaign and it's so great being back to it. Tabletop RPG is my secondary hobby, after fandom, and Pathfinder is my favourite system. (If you're not familiar, the base rules are essentially a fork of D&D 3.5.) My group is experienced and tactically smart but also really into the roleplaying aspect so it's usually the most fun night of the week!

- We're also back to playing more Marvel: Legendary, which is a co-operative deck-building game that's pretty much the most fun non-RPG table game I've ever played. (We had to sleeve all the cards, though, because sometimes when you draw Doctor Octopus and give his card a little kiss, you might get lipgloss on him.) I've actually changed my opinions on some of the characters based on their cards sets. I used to think Namor the Submariner was a pompous asshole but now I think he's a really hot pompous asshole. (Who should totally get back with Sue. Which would free up Reed for Victor.)

- I hope you are all having a great weekend! ♥♥♥ Doing anything fun?

1. Your main fandom of the year?

Let's just say "sports manga/anime". Prince of Tennis, Haikyuu!! and Yuri!!! on ICE dominated.

2. Your favourite film watched this year?

Ghostbusters 2016. Oh. My. God. So smart and funny and fun. Also I got Holtzmanned pretty hard! (Like you didn't.)

3. Your favourite book read this year?

The Three-Body Problem by Liu Cixin. Far and away my favourite. I love first-contact novels and this was such a fresh take! I wasn't as enamoured of The Dark Forest but I'm looking forward to reading Death's End in 2017.

4. Your favourite TV show of the year?

Yuri!!! on ICE hands-down. Just. Was not expecting this level of awesomeness. Every time I re-watch I see new things and flail harder. (Honourable mention to Brooklyn 99 continuing to be amazing!)

5. Your favourite online fandom community of the year?

Twitter. I still miss the slower pace and threaded comments of LJ, but Twitter is where I do my fannish chatting these days. Come find me (@prillalar) there so I can chat with you too! I'm @prillalar on Tumblr too. (Um, the queue of Georgi birthday fanart reblogs will end eventually.) I poked at Imzy a bit but it didn't stick, at least not yet. (If you're reading this on Tumblr, I'm prillalar on Dreamwidth. Yay branding!)

I do want to engage a bit more on DW in 2017 so I'll try to post more often and hopefully find others who are still posting. I'm thinking fannish stuff on DW and Tumblr, life stuff probably just on DW.

6. Your best new fandom discovery of the year?

It's a toss-up between the Sports Anime Shipping Olympics (aka SASO) and Yuri!!! on ICE but I'm going to go with SASO because that's where I met a bunch of the people I've been flailing about YOI with. ♥

That said, the twelve weeks when YOI was airing was the most intense fannish experience of my LIFE and I've been around for a while! I'm hoping to ride that wave all the way to season 2.

7. Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?

Cheer Danshi. (So disappointed, I can't be bothered to look up the correct number and placement of exclamation marks in the title.) Men's college cheerleading, should be awesome, right? I foolishly got my hopes up. It was cute but ultimately uninteresting to me and I haven't finished it. (Though I do plan to.) No fandom sprung up around it that I could find either.

8. Your TV boyfriend of the year?

Georgi Popovich. I love sad sack side characters. I love self-aggrandizing side characters. I love evil witches. I love Georgi. [witch makeup heart hands emoji]

9. Your TV girlfriend of the year?

Can we go with movie girlfriend and say HOLTZMANN OMG 4EVA? Otherwise, Saeko-neesan from Haikyuu!! (I lost my heart when she was drifting!).

10. Your biggest squee moment of the year?

YOI episode 10. Especially the end. But especially the glove. But especially all of it. But especially the end. This episode caused me to end up sitting on the floor of my office the next day, because I couldn't stand up due to emotion, listening to Shut Up and Dance and crying.

11. The most missed of your old fandoms?

I would have thought this would be Prince of Tennis but I didn't have to miss it because it's still there! Not to the same extent as the days of yore but I have a bunch of friends who only just got into it and a bunch of friends who are still into it and a bunch who used to be and still tolerate my fannishness. I only wish there was a way to make it more centralized, like it used to be on LJ.

12. The fandom you haven’t tried yet, but want to?

I'm not sure if this exactly qualifies, but I'm hoping Yowamushi Pedal S3 will bring me more into the fandom proper.

13. Your biggest fan anticipations for the New Year?

Making new friends and reconnecting with old friends. I know I'm a bit standoffish and can be hard to get to know. And also, since I'm a fair bit older than a lot of people I meet in fandom these days, I don't always want to take the initiative in case I seem creepy. But I've got to know some really great people recently and I know I'll get to know more. :)

Writing more fic. YOI, tenipuri, HQ. Slam Dunk. Star Wars. Finish the Christophe/Georgi series. Start that Polar Bear Café Shirokuma/Grizzly story I keep thinking about. Write more and more and more Inui/Kaidoh.

2016 was the year I came back to fandom after several years hiatus. It's one of the best things I've ever done. I love you all so much.

SASO is nearly over and I've finished all my responsibilities. I had a really great time, working with my team (you are all ⭐️s) and meeting new people and writing a bit of tenipuri and Haikyuu!! fic.

I certainly wasn't very productive in comparison to a lot of participants! But over 3 months I did write 14 short stories in 3 fandoms, did 2 short podfics for the remix round, and worked on our team projects.

Also this year, I wrote for one tenipuri exchange and one multifandom exchange. Feels like a lot, at least for me. I think it helped a lot with getting back into writing and into a fandom headspace.

I've been slowly getting my back catalogue of fic up on AO3 but there is still so much to go. I haven't been backdating it, just putting the year written into the notes. But I do need to start getting the older stuff up too. (Like the X-Files stuff from, oh my god, last century.) I feel pretty cringe-y about some of it so I will probably backdate most of that and silently apologize to anyone who's subscribed to me.

I've been up on Twitter quite a bit -- I feel like it's filled at least part of what I've been missing about LJ fandom. And I'm just now getting going on Tumblr, which has been okay. Still working out how I want to use it. Mostly posting about tenipuri & HQ and reblogging mostly sports anime stuff. Might do some cross-posting here, but not sure yet. Oh, and poking around Izzy too. (LMK if you need an invite.)

Trying to plan my fanworks schedule for the fall. I've got a few WIPs in the hopper, which is a nice feeling. :) Thinking about setting up a tenipuri side blog for revisiting my episode recaps.

I wasn't going to do any more exchanges this year but then I saw [community profile] relationshipping, which is an incest exchange and very rtmi. So, still not sure, but I'm pretty tempted. Maybe I'll wait and see if someone else nominates Donny & Marie.

This has been long and boring! I'll try for some more fannish content next time. :)

I want to write every SASO prompt about Sakamoto/Acchan instead. The porn rental story killed me so bad. So bad. ♥

(I may have just left a butt sumo prompt.)

Have been watching Yowamushi Pedal (high school road racing) for a few weeks now and I am charmed beyond all things. Once you get past the underlying message of "Hey, anime fans, watch this anime about how if you're an anime fan, you won't have any friends until you join a sports club", it's a great series. I'm on day three of the interhigh now, so I think I'm up enough to write prompt fills about some of the characters but still wary about reading fic in case of spoilers.

I really love Onoda a lot and whenever he starts singing the Hime Hime song during a race, I legit tear up. Shipping him with Imaizumi mostly. I also adored Sugimoto from the moment he opened his mouth about his cycling experience so I was so glad he stuck with the club.

And Kinjou. Possibly my favourite sports club captain since Akagi. I feel badly that I'm attracted to him, but he's drawn like he's 29 and voiced like he's 45, so what am I supposed to do?

Am also dying to get back to Daiya no Ace (I think I'm only about 10 eps in) but will wait until I'm finished YowaPeda. Not to mention I started a bit of a low-key Slam Dunk re-watch and may have also been re-watching the Prince of Tennis Chinese drama. Guo Guang and Hai Tang and Zhen Zhi (Holy Triangle) kill me every time.

There is more to my life than sports anime (and Sakamoto), I swear. But I'm on vac right now and my partner isn't so I'm just redeeming the time.

1. The [livejournal.com profile] tenipuri_xpair story written for me was posted! Gravitational Attraction, Sanada/Atobe, R/NC-17. It's extremely lovely future-fic, university age, with that touch of wistfulness you get when you have to let go of the golden boyhood and figure out life as an adult. Also, it's hot. Go read and give the author some well-deserved love.

2. Finished the Haikyuu anime, except that Crunchyroll says the next ep is up in an hour, so I guess there's one more in this season. I love it a lot but haven't yet figured out if I fic-love it or not. I'm reading the manga now, so we'll see what comes of that. :) Will try to write up more of a review later on.

3. Also re-reading the H2 manga. Dear god, I forgot how lovely it is. It's one of Mitsuru Adachi's high school baseball series, probably my favourite. He's such a great storyteller, so funny but not over the top, and explores the relationships with a light hand that works so well. Baseball and love triangles -- what could be better?

4. Kind of ridiculously excited for the no-doubt ridiculous Cheer Danshi!!. Looks like both a manga and anime adaptation of a novel about a cheerleading squad at a men's university. There's a trailer video on the article. Go Breakers!

5. Looking for a coffee robot so I don't have to stumble around in the morning making my own.

LIfe is fine, except for seasonal allergies still kicking my ass. It is raining, though, so I'm taking a chance and opening the windows to get the temp down and the air changed. I still fantasize about getting a chainsaw and a mask and cutting down every cherry tree in the city as a Pollen Vigilante but since I'm too lazy even to take the recycling out, I will just have to take more Claritin instead.

I'm trying to catch up with the Prince of Tennis manga read on [community profile] princeoftennis but I've still got a volume and a bit to go. I pulled out my Viz copies since that was easier than figuring out which drive the scanlations are on. Kamio just said he was feeling the rhythm like Fred Astaire.

Trying some of the spring anime on Crunchyroll and I am completely in love with both Space Brothers and Polar Bear's Cafe. I also enjoyed the first ep of Kuroko's Basketball but need a bit more time to decide my in-love status there. Tried OZMA but it did not grab me. I was happy to see Kimi to Boku back but the first ep was pretty boring, so we'll see. And looking forward to the first ep of Kids on the Slope. Continuing with Area no Kishi as well, which is getting very interesting! Besides Araki/Oda, I"m also shipping the two coaches. ♥

When people talk about a fic being "50k" do they mean 50 000 words or 50 kilobytes?

I've been experimenting with doing little stick-person sketches of scenes before I write them and it's really been helping me get into the mood! I'm using that Paper app on my iPad, which helps them look kind of cute instead of just messy. :) I will perhaps post some of them at some point.

I love cheese. And you. xoxoxox

✩ Have declared tab amnesty and closed all the posts I had open to comment on. Sorry. :(

✩ Did not send this text to my SO: I love you best of anyone in all universes, except for the ones where Drew Barrymore is into me.

✩ Been on a Sayers re-reading binge recently: Gaudy Night, Busman's Honeymoon, Striding Folly, Nine Tailors. Made the mistake of reading Thrones, Dominations, though. Yikes!

✩ Dreaming of bacon. ≈≈≈≈

✩ And you. ♥

♙ I listened to Leonard Cohen's new album Old Ideas today. How am I supposed to get any work done with that voice whispering in my ear? So lovely.

♟I need to adjust my reading filters so I don't have most of your posts showing up on both LJ and DW. LJ is still my default. If you would prefer I read your journal on DW instead and you are still posting in both places, please check the box below. Otherwise, no action is required on your part. Thank you!

♙ It may be time for a Slam Dunk re-watch / re-read. As fun as flailing over tenipuri is, I'm craving an actual sports series. Though [livejournal.com profile] priestess123 has me all fired up for Hajime no Ippo again too! Which would you pick? Or do you have another suggestion?

♟I have started to watch Dark Shadows and by "started" I mean "watched 2 out of 1225 episodes so far". It looks like it will be great fun! Anyone else a fan?

♙ Too hungry to think of more things to write. Time for my shepherd's pie! (Technically cottage pie, I guess.) What are you having for supper?

Item: I am still beavering away at mirroring my LJ friends list on DW. I try to do a letter of the alphabet most days. But the letter S is scaring me -- there are so many!

Item: Last night I heard a Dalek say "Eradicate!"

Item: I am reading LJ with Chrome Mac. But I often have to re-load pages multiple times because they just load blank. Anyone else have this issue?

Item: The boy just came up and said he thought this new RPG rulebook he got would be a good system for a Trailer Park Boys game. Damn, now I want to play it. I'll be Julian. Julian is handsome.
