On Tuesday
Oct. 25th, 2005 07:30 amCool article by Paul Ford on narrow and broad distractions. I've had to adopt some of the measures he talks about in order to get work done, both at my job and at home, with my fanworks.
For Monday Night TV, which we've been doing since, oh, 1997, my friend D. and I have lately been watching Millennium S2, Miracles, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer S5. He proposed a new TV show where Frank and Keel would team up and investigate paranormal incidents and Giles would turn up every once in a while to consult with them.
I'd watch it.
After we were done, I flipped on the Space channel and there was the Galactica 1980 pilot in all its horrifying glory. Dear god, has there ever been another show that bad? But there's something fascinating about it. The Boy came home about then and we all complained about how awful the show was but then we all stared at the screen, unable to look away, during a scene that was bascially a car pulling up in a parking lot.
It reminded me of the car parking scene in The Sinister Urge, directed by Ed Wood, which went on and on and caused Crow to quip, "Film it all, Ed!" (Actually, that's a line I find myself muttering a lot whilst watching the Star Wars prequels.)
I have been listening to a couple of podcasts at work. Not spoken word, because I can't concentrate on them, but music. Canadian music. Cool music.
Bandeapart.fm is a French-language cast that focuses on French-Canadian music. (I'm also hoping that listening to it will improve my French, since I'm an Anglo.) The CBC Radio 3 Podcast is English language and focuses on English-Canadian music. These are both from the CBC. Probably the easiest way to subscribe is just to go to iTunes and browse the podcast list.
TV-Nihon released a new subbed ep of Ultraman Nexus. It's the best toku I've seen. I go to watch it now.
