Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Prom
aka Angel is a mean, stupid jerk. Hey, I see the need to break up with Buffy. After all, you have to go and star on your own show. What's true love compared to that? But did you have to go and break up with her before the prom? And then just when she seemed to be dealing with it, show up at the prom? The break-up was necessary, if ill-timed. Coming to the prom afterwards was just cruel.

Other prommage: Willow is in heels and she's taller than Oz -- I found that so hot. Where did Jonathan get that smokin' date? D. was in a state of extreme disbelief. I said that perhaps someone was properly appreciating him. And one of the best lines ever:

Anya: "Look I know you find me attractive. I've seen you looking at my breasts."
Xander: "Nothing personal, but when a guy does that, it just means his eyes are open."

The X-Files: Blood
People are drugged by insecticide and then given subliminal messages through electronic devices to make them kill people. This seems unnecessarily complicated and we never really find out what the point might be. Mulder doesn't come on to anyone, not even the policeman who I thought looked kind of like a Ken doll. Most of our time was taken up joking about Ashlyn Gere, an adult film actress who had a role as a paranoid housewife. Mulder had bad, bad hair.

The X-Files: Sleepless
Ah, so very, very lovely. Skinner goes all alpha again, ordering Mulder to go transcribe wiretap tapes. It's not what he says, it's how he says it. And then, of course, while Mulder is "waitin' here like some stupid bimbo who ain't got nothin' better to do with her time than to sit around here waitin' for you", in walks Krycek. Agent Krycek with a bad suit and slicked-back hair and Mulder's destiny written all over him.

Scully is jealous of Krycek. Krycek looks like he's jealous of Scully. Mulder tries to ditch Krycek, but starts to warm to him by the end of the ep. It's so sweet. I watch now and wonder if the reveal that Krycek is working for CSM should have waited for another episode. Let us think for a week, at least, that Mulder had a new partner.

Mulder's hair was still bad. And he didn't come on to Krycek. But he looked like he was thinking about it.

I have a ticket to a preview showing of RotK. Monday night. This Monday.

I've had a preview for the last two, but I didn't think I'd be able to swing it this time and I was pretty resigned. But I'm going!

Now I'm hyperventilating and trying not to cry.

"They can't take the sky from me. Well, I guess they can."

We started in on Firefly tonight. We watched the pilot with the commentary, which was hilarious. Joss and Nathan, cutting up. Then The Train Job which I hadn't seen for months and months. It doesn't get all that exciting, but it's good fun.

There was much sighing over Kaylee from both of us. I think it was only me who was sighing over Jayne.

It's hard to talk about this show in more depth because I will only start to think about how it was cancelled and then I will be deeply frustrated and sad. But I was very struck by the lighting, partly because Joss kept harping on it in the commentary. :) It's always a very real looking light, often a warm light inside the ship, especially in the mess. It's so different from any other scifi I've seen.

In other news, the boy and I were excitedly discussing our Monday (Monday!) RotK tix -- what time we should line up, where we should aim to sit, how one person shouldn't hold both tickets.

Hal: Of course, I could die horribly before Monday. If I'm dead, you should go to the movie anyhow. I suppose if I'm lying in the hospital ill, you could sit with me instead.

Boy: What if you were in a coma? If I were sick, I'd enjoy having you sit with me but if I'm in a coma, you should go to the movie.
