And also with you.

As you know, I'm a fangirl. And nothing brings that out more than Star Wars.

Last night, I went to see The One Man Star Wars Trilogy. This is, well, exactly what it sounds like: one guy (Charles Ross), racing his way through the original trilogy, doing all the characters, all the story, and all the special effects. He added just enough editorial comment to keep us laughing.

Han: "I'm sure Luke wasn't on that thing when it blew."

Leia: "He wasn't. I can feel it."

Han: "You love him...don't you?"

Leia: "Well, yes."

Han: "All right, fine. I understand. When he comes back...I won't get in the way."

Leia: "Oh no it's not like that at all...He's my brother..."

Han: "Then why are you always kissing?"

It was beautiful. You really had to know the trilogy to get everything and plainly most of the audience did. My favourite was the first Death Star battle -- all the strange dialogue and the way he'd bounce and jump and somersault to simulate the fighters.

He'll be in various places across Canada, so check the schedule and see if you can take in a show. I think he also said he'd be in Adelaide at some point, but I'm not sure when.

 

I had another Star Wars blip yesterday. I had a dream about Jonathan, from Buffy. He came over and we sat on the couch together and tickled each other's toes. Then he told me he'd written a slash story about Luke and Han and would I beta read it for him. I was just beginning to when the dream changed.

I've written Luke/Han but now I'm thinking about it, wondering what Jonathan's story could have been about.

ETA: Of course I meant I haven't written Luke/Han. D'oh!

 

And one more fangirl moment. I've been remembering that wonderfully schlocky dragon movie from last year: Reign of Fire. A bunch of survivors are holed up in a castle, trying to stay alive. There are a lot of orphaned children to take care of.

In the evening, two of the characters (one of whom is Christian Bale - yum!) are telling the kids a bedtime story by putting on a little play about the White Knight and the Black Knight.

It took me a moment to realise it, but they were doing the Luke-Vader scene from Empire. And I got all teary. There was more Star Wars in that minute and half than there was in the whole Attack of the Clones.
