Drabble x 2

Two drabbles today. One for the hp100 Dead Letters challenge: Billet-Doux

And the other is Legolas/Gimli, right here behind the cut tag. Possibly it was just an excuse for my new icon.

Charms

"The dwarf," said Haldir, "is hot-blooded, is he not?"

"He has a quick tongue," said Legolas, sipping his wine.

"I am glad to hear it. His fortitude?"

"He does not easily tire."

"You know him well?"

"He has long been my companion."

"I am disappointed, but will not seek to displace you."

"Seek to..." Legolas stared. "I am not...do you mean..."

Haldir smiled. "I will go to him."

"Do not come near the dwarf," Legolas said, flushing. "And give me that wineskin." He crossed the clearing, bending down to speak to Gimli. They passed into the wood together.

Haldir sighed. Perhaps tomorrow.

I love indignant Legolas! A very cute & clever little fic, a nice way to start my day.

And thanks for pointing out your Dead Letter drabble - I was overwhelmed by the long list of those and only read a few. I think Draco definitely would vomit at the thought of anyone finding out that he wrote "Farewell, my love." Thanks for both of these fun drabbles!

Legolas just needed a little push. *g* I fear my Gimli fic will always have the taint of Mary Sue about it, though. I can't believe that *everyone* doesn't want him, all the time.

And glad you liked the Dead Letter. I couldn't believe how many entries were posted this week. I have a couple of other ideas, but I think I'll wait a few days to post.

Ah! I have read this one before, somewhere. Back before my LJ time, when I was still feeding off the Axe/Bow and Legolas in Chains mailing lists (IDs lillenissefisse/nauraewrend) and only stumbled across Livejournals when google led me there. So, in case I never dropped a comment, thanks for writing and sharing! Reading this made me feel nostalgic. XD

Now we're getting seriously old school! I might have posted this to Axe/Bow -- can't recall now. I remember that that was a pretty good list, as lists go, and I've been on quite a few.
