The crystal is the heart of the blade.
Recently, I had an experience I had expected to never have again: a fannish Star Wars moment. More than that, an OMG STAR WARS! moment. Verily, it was a miracle of Biblical proportions.
And the cause? A little thing called Star Wars: Clone Wars. An "animated micro-series", written by Not George Lucas, directed by Not George Lucas, taking place between AotC and RotS.
It kicks ass. The animation is sharp, the action is frantic, the characters are on. And the sound!
Obi-Wan is pissy, Anakin is petulant, Mace Windu is so damn hot, and the Sith. The Sith are so very, very cool that Lucius Malfoy wants to join them now.
And then there's General Grevious.
Damn, I can't wait til Volume Two comes out on DVD. Cause I can't figure out if it's on TV here or not.
In other news, Tezuka is pretty.

This is a panel from the manga. I can't recall which chapter, but the caption I shopped out was "Because I am his captain." Mmmm. I just really wanted to colour it, so I did. It reminds me of my secret theory that Tezuka actually went off to Paris to become an international male fashion model.

And it was such a classic TezuRyo moment, too.

It had KICK ASS JEDI and cool EVIL VILLAINS and great speed and zippy story telling. Obi musta taken some stupid juice cause Ani was pushing it pretty hard there.
Such good good stuff.

If you liked them, tell me you're familiar with Samurai Jack. If not, they're a must-see. Tartakovsky is amazing. They feel a lot like the Mace Windu ep of CW (which is one of my favorites).

I'm still reeling at how good CW was. And I love your icon. :)

Yes. What you said, and all. I just watched Clone Wars a few weeks ago, and yes. It so very much rocks. I love the Sith girl who goes after Anakin! With two red lightsabers! And Mace Windu so kicks ass! Yoda doesn't suck! Woot!
Also, animated Anakin and Padme have more chemistry in that one scene meeting on Coruscant than RL Anakin and Padme do in the course of three movies. Heh.

My introduction to Clone Wars? My 2.5 y/old godson. The last weekend I spent visiting in Tulsa he watched it repeatedly and obsessively...at least 10 times. Quite the endorsement.

If you write a fic about that, you can have my first born. Or maybe I'll leech off you and write a crackfic about it. XXD Tezuka... modeling... *is dead*

Absolutely. And Ryoma keeps them under his pillow. :D

IS HE TALKING ABOUT RYOMA WHEN HE SAYS THIS?
*HOPEFUL, BECAUSE TEZUKA IS CLEARLY OBSESSED WITH RYOMA, AND AJA IS CLEARLY OBSESSED WITH HIS OBSESSION*
*sits on hands*

Of course he's talking about Ryoma! Who else does Tezuka ever talk about? I think his only topics of conversation are: Ryoma, platitudes, and nothing at all.

I love being icon twins!
Ahahahahaha. Witness my conversation with
Me: ...DID HE CALL RYOMA? :((
Her: No.
Me: *CRUSHED*
Her: But he called Atobe to ask him to play Ryoma.
Me: OMSFDASFSAASKFLJASF *FAITH INSTANTLY RESTORED*
or something like that. I will never doubt again. :))

I think I'm ready to do a TezuRyo re-watch and gear up to work on my series again. I always said I had to see the end of the anime before I could finish and I guess I don't have that excuse any more. *g*
Especially towards the end of the series, I kept mentally finishing every conversation between them with Tezuka saying, "Now give Daddy some sugar." In the most serious voice ever. :)

Oh, I think I would die of sheer pleasure if you started working on Tezu/Ryo again. That pairing needs strong writers, it seems like--it's such an undershipped pairing and (as I am sure I will say ad nauseum now that I am in the fandom) I don't understand why.
And I am saying the same thing about my Tezu/Ryo fic--I can't finish it until I see/read the end of the series. I haven't really gotten to see it in about a week and a half (I AM DYING) because I've been so busy, but I'm really itching to write more of it. There are about ten gazillion random fic scenarios flying around in my head, additionally. I sort of volunteered to take over the ship for
"Now give Daddy some sugar." In the most serious voice ever. :)
I just split something ominous from laughing. OW. And thank you for ensuring that I will wind up watching the series hearing this way. :))

I'm not quite sure why so few people seem to ship TezuRyo (though I think it's quite a strong pairing in j-fandom). Perhaps because people prefer the aesthetic of TezuFuji? Or feel that it's creepy because even though the characters are two years apart, they look more like twelve years apart?
Or maybe it's just a difficult pairing to write plausibly. (Though plausible writing isn't exactly a hallmark of the fandom.) Or ... I don't know. It seems to me that TezuRyo as a pairing is too complex for most people. It's like how difficult, complex fic draws less of a response than something simpler.
Or maybe they're just all stupid. *g* But in a way, I almost prefer it like this. The people who like the pairing really do appreciate it for the dynamic between them.
Re
Hurry up and finish the damn series already! I would really like to discuss their relationship with you, so we can both work it out for our fic. But I can't until you're done. :)
