Let's call the whole thing off.

Yes, I'm still on holiday. I've just had a Gracious Tea in a Gracious Teashop. I've had graciouser teas back in my hometown, but it was quite gracious nonetheless.

I noted some regional differences in pronunciation and it made me curious what you all thought.

well, the monty python tune has it like 'spawn,' no? but among my american cohorts, i go with 'stone' so as not to seem pretentious.

In Scotland, it's pronounced with a short "o". (And we make the best. (http://www.livejournal.com/community/bakery/15824.html))

Just passing through

In England, about 50% of people rhyme it with "stone" and about 50% rhyme it with "gone." A tiny ultra-posh minority rhyme it with "spawn", but these would rhyme "gone" with "spawn" too.

I definitely go for "gone."
