Rain, rain, go away

It's raining and raining and raining today. I wish I were home on the couch, tucked up under a blanket, reading, and drinking hot buttered rum. I hope to be doing that once I get off work.

What do you like to do on a rainy fall day? What's your warming drink of choice?

Open up a window (hopefully there's one where rain has little chance of getting in), light a candle, curl up with a book and a blanket.

Drink: Tazo's Lotus green tea, hot.

Mmm. Hot chocolate with Bailey's and Kalhua.

Rain? What's that? :) We've not had a drop of rain in the last, oh, 9-10 months. We only get it about two months during the year (our "winter"). Gotta love sunny California weather (unless you're a plant).

Peppermint tea, my very good friend the fireplace, some pillows and a history book. Ahhhh.

Lapsang Souchong. Nothing like smoky black tea on a rainy day.

Fire in the fireplace, me curled up with a book in front of it and a mug of any of the following (not all): coffee with kahlua, tea with scotch, hot chocolate with amaretto, good sherry that needs no accompaniment.

Preferred activities include staying in bed all day with a lover for extended naughtiness, snuggling, and appreciating rain from a warm, safe distance. Also partial to the book-and-hot-liquids option, preferably with a cat in my lap.

As for drinks, tea, naturally, but today I'm going to be perverse and say rooibos (http://www.rooibos.com/), because it sounds good right about now. It's delicious with milk in, and has no tannins or caffeine.

I also really enjoy a pot of hot honey lemonade (juice a bunch of lemons and put in a teapot along with sliced lemon rinds -- or orange or grapefruit if you like -- and a dollop of honey, then pour boiling water in).

How do you make your hot buttered rum? Share your recipe!

You crack me up. I was looking for something involving cinnamon sticks and so on, but now I recall you don't cook.

No fall here in the tropics, but lots of rain. =) Great for curling up in bed with a book, and an iced sweet drink is still welcome.

I like to sit by the window and knit sweaters. Well, and read of course.

I love all sorts of tea (except Tazo), but I'll drink hot chocolate too. Frankly, I love anything I associate with fall.

We don't get a lot of rainy days at all here in San Diego, but the ones we do get are Bigelow peach herbal tea days, wrapped in a ratty blue satin comforter, in front of my computer re-reading slashy old favorites. The computer is right next to the window, and it allows my mind to wander out into the rain during periods when our heros are sleeping it off.

The warming drink of choice is hot chocolate unless it's a work morning, then it's tea unless I'm going on a hayride and then it's hot apple cider with a cinnamon stick unless I'm going on a hayride with drunk people and then it's a flask of brandy.

Cadbury's Drinking Chocolate. Even good with goat milk. W00t!
