The perfect future turns out to actually suck. And Jack turns into the Unabomber. Who could have predicted that? So, the former SG-1 plus Dr Fraiser decide to change the past. Because things suck on Earth. Without considering that maybe things might turn out a lot worse for another planet or bunch of planets or galaxy or something. I watched this ep early in the week and I have this idea that I meant to mention something about Daniel -- like he looked hot, maybe -- but I've forgotten.

Absolute Power
Maybe this was the ep that Daniel was hot in. He was certainly stone cold evil. Which I liked. That kid was certainly annoying. He just didn't have the gravitas to pull off his stupid dialogue. I loved Daniel's Underground Lair of Evil -- I kept expecting him to ask for "one million dollars!" It was pretty obvious that it was a dream as soon as "one year later" flashed on the screen, but I didn't mind. When Jack pulled the gun and fired on Daniel, I just melted.

The Light
This could have been the "Daniel is hot" ep. It certainly is the most slashy thing ever. I had actually seen this already, on TV, but I was most pleased to watch it again. Besides the amazing "Jack saves Daniel from jumping" scene (the facial expressions!) and the amazing "Jack carries Daniel through the Stargate" scene, I also enjoyed the way Jack bonded with Loran. Loran is my fave kid ever on Stargate. I just wanted to hug him, the poor, poor boy. Jack and Daniel adopt him, right?

Prodigy
OK, this must have been the Hot!Daniel episode. Oh, he wasn't even in it. Damn. But how much did I love Sam's interaction with the cadet? Lots! They had great (non-sexual) chemistry. Also, at some point during this season I began to notice how pretty Sam's eyes are. This seems as good a time to mention that as any. You know, I'd sleep with any one of SG-1, but Sam is who I'd pick to be stranded on a desert island with. And not just because she's the one who'd think of a way to get home.

Entity
An alien computer program takes over Sam's brain. Ick. This episode sucked except that when they were having a meeting prior to the brain-grab, Sam and Daniel were sitting together and their elbows were touching. Sam was clearly thinking, "Daniel is so hot!" I did like the voice of the speech synthesizer -- it was nicely sinister.

Double Jeopardy
Daniel was hot until he got decapitated. How lovely to see the robot doubles again! The Jack-Jack interaction was the most entertaining thing this season. And when Robot!Teal'c looked at Meat!Teal'c and said, "For our father" I got all misty. Sam didn't seem very freaked out -- I guess she got all her double issues worked out over her alternate universe self last season.

Exodus
I'd seen this ep before and I think I commented on it then. But some things bear repeating: Who blows up a fucking sun? Jeez! Also, who falls for the fucking "sick prisoner" trick? The Tok'ra should watch more TV. Daniel was hot, but it was 15 minutes into the ep before he even had a line. Tanith was also hot.

BONUS SEASON 6 EPISODE

I'm now getting S6 on Saturday nights. Of course, I've not seen S5, but I'll cope.

Redemption, Part 1
I need to know -- what's the politically correct opinion to hold about Jonas? Because I thought he was really cute. And McKay was cool. I look forward to seeing his introduction in S5. But was there a plot? Stargate tied up, about to explode, blah blah blah. Meanwhile, Teal'c's wife dies offstage so they don't have to pay the actress and he lets his kid beat him up instead of giving him a clip across the ear. Teal'c really does let his guilt get the better of him. Perhaps he needs therapy.

Flat | Top-Level Comments Only

You know, I was going to invite you to come stay on my island so we could double the number of people on there, but then you picked Loran as the cutest SG kid ever, and now I think you'll have to get an island all to yourself. You nearly redeemed yourself by being the only other SG fan who actually likes Prodigy and the Cadet Hailey (well, you liked Sam's interaction with her and I'm taking that for all it's worth) so you can stay on a neighboring island.

Politically correct opinion about Jonas? In LJland? Whatever you want it to be. In other arenas? That's why I don't go there so much. Personally his hair weireded me out until Fallen/Homecoming when I thought it turned fabulous. Also? Really nice body. I had no beef with Jonas personally and in fact, I think of him fondly every time I find myself watching the Weather Channel. He just never registered on my emotional radar until his final episode.

McKay was one of those characters who (IMNSHO) had an atrocious beginning episode and then redeemed himself in one fell swoop by acknowledging all the over the top obnoxious things about him and turning them into assets. I now love him.. (Maybourne was the other character who had a similar evolution in my eyes, but he at least had the decency to spread his character growth out over four seasons.)

I was pretty much unimpressed with Redemption. They took technobabble to new and unimpressive heights.

I just said Loran was my favourite, not that he was the cutest. And I really did love Cadet Hailey. Let me come to your island! Please! Do you have pretty eyes like Sam?

And call me an official Jonas supporter, as least so far. I suppose coming into this now, since I know that Daniel returns, I don't have the same potential to resent him.

There's just something about Loran that annoys me. It all starts when he says, "They're not going to listen." It's the whine. And it's not like he doesn't have the right to whine. He's a kid who's been orphaned and stuck in that place for a long, long time. But it gets on my nerves. *g*

As for Jonas, I lied! There is one other episode in which I really, really felt for him. It's near the end of season 6. I think it was called Prophecy. And you know, now that I mention it, I enjoyed him in Full Circle too. Damn, he was really coming into his own. Someone at Connexions also made a really good point about the cheerful front being a cheerful front and how he's really just a calculating type person who desperately wants to fit in and is trying everything in order to do so. (Or something like that.) Anyhow, I really liked that interpretation.

And my eyes are just gorgeous. But Peter DeLuise doesn't spend copious amounts of time filming them and then making commentaries about their doe-y-ness. He is so off the island.

Yes! That great moment in Homecoming (well, given that it's one of those stupid "we're in imminent danger, let's have a heartfelt talk!" scenes):

DANIEL: You're very... up.
JONAS: (kind of... wistfully, or ironically, or something) Yeah.

I mean, I don't think he's evil-calculating. But he was awfully adrift - more so than Teal'c, in a way. Bigger changes for Teal'c, but he had Jack firmly in his corner from the very beginning and doesn't tend to the insecure anyway.

I wish they'd played that up more. Not that Stargate is big into the psychology of its characters, but I can see the Platonic ideal of Jonas out of the corner of my eye, and I think it would've been really interesting.

Jonas? A very problematical character, when you consider that, as written, he had the personality of a wet noodle. Until Daniel showed up again in the flesh. As we found out to our great chagrin, the ONE CHARACTER that Jonas had any chemistry at all with was the guy he replaced, and the guy who was about to relegate him back to Kelowna. Some days you just can't win. Though as I understand it, Jonas is going to make a guest appearance sometime later on in this season.

And I would give a LOT to see your take on what Really Happened during the three weeks of detox - so many others have tackled this with so little success. Here bunny, bunny, bunny...

I actually just saw Meridian tonight. *wipes away tears* And the chemistry was totally there. It added yet another layer of sadness.

I also enjoyed the way Jack bonded with Loran. Loran is my fave kid ever on Stargate.

Aw! I like Loran too, and he tends to get short shrift because people get bitter that he takes Jack's attention in the end of that episode. I think he's marvelous.

I'm glad I'm not alone in my Loran love. :) I thought that given his situation, he was actually really well-adjusted. I mean his parents killed themselves, the thought it was his fault (and even though he couldn't be blamed, he certainly was the immediate cause), he had to bury them, he lived there all alone.

When he gives that toy gun to Teal'c or takes the picture of Daniel, it's SO sad.

2010: Only Daniel could look hot while wearing birth control glasses. And just why the hell is he wearing glasses? The Aschen can cure illness but they can't fix nearsightedness?

McKay: Love him! He was a pill the first time around, but he has such excellent chemistry with Sam. I'd love to see them together, if only to keep her away from Jack.

Jonas: My relationship with Jonas started out as hatred, but soon grew to indifference. He was just so boring. He could have been interesting if they'd just kept the weasel characterization going. Instead, they tried to make us love him, but it just didn't work. Not for me, anyway. I actually did like him in Fallen/Homecoming, but he was leaving and that's probably why I liked him.

I think it was Daniel's glasses that I wanted to mention but forgot. I thought they were pretty cool, actually. Also his vest. He had a vest, right?
