Scattered thoughts

Having trouble working out a proper Thestral drabble idea. They seem to lend themselves far more to discussion and speculation than fiction. Also someone already used the idea I wanted. Obviously, my brain was hacked! If I were an American, I'd find some way to sue under the DMCA.

Only one Stargate today.

A Hundred Days
I wasn't too fond of the whole Kirok thing and I felt like the episode didn't adequately deal with all the issues Jack had. But there were two things in this ep that I will forever treasure: one, an intensely slashy convo between Dr Fraiser and Sam and two, the shot of Teal'c in his digging gear and safety glasses, pulling on his black leather gloves. I was not alone in my exclamation at this glorious sight. He's so beautiful.

One of my co-workers is watching her way through Buffy for the first time and we're going out to lunch tomorrow so we can talk Buffy. It's a beautiful thing to see how involved she's getting with the show, how excited. How upset she was by Surprise. She's turning into a total fangirl and it's very, very fun to watch.

Interesting article in the Independent about how text messaging is being blamed for summer movie flops.

In Hollywood, 2003 is rapidly becoming known as the year of the failed blockbuster, and the industry now thinks it knows why.

No, the executives are not blaming such bombs as The Hulk, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle or Gigli on poor quality, lack of originality, or general failure to entertain. There's absolutely nothing new about that.

The problem, they say, is teenagers who instant message their friends with their verdict on new films - sometimes while they are still in the cinema watching - and so scuppering carefully crafted marketing campaigns designed to lure audiences out to a big movie on its opening weekend.

Frankly, I think LJ should take some of the blame.

Last night I didn't have Monday Night TV because I had to go to a barbeque and Star Wars gaming session. We were all sitting around the gaming table and the DM was giving us, through an NPC, some background. Some shipment had gone missing and they suspected pirates.

At the word "pirates" all of us broke out into cries of "Arr!" and "Yo ho!", causing the DM to hold his head in his hands. The pirate theme continued all night, especially after I got to be the captain of our spaceship and made the Jedi swab the deck.

Sleep now. Must dream of brilliant Thestral drabble idea. Or Teal'c.
