O frabjous day!

I had the Day From Hell. (Heh. Actually, I'm reading From Hell at the moment, but that was one of the good parts of the day.) Rather, the Work Day From Hell. It got lots better when I got home.

Because my Stargate DVDs finally arrived!

This is S1, mind you. I've never actually watched the show before, but people have been trying to get me into it and I thought I'd gamble on liking it.

I've had such a time trying to get S1, though. I ordered it from a local store about two or three months ago. Then, when it came in, the store sold it to someone else. Not sure how that happened. So, they re-ordered. But then they were out of stock and we had to wait until more DVDs were pressed.

I'd begun to think that this fandom and I were Not Meant To Be. But here they are.

I also grabbed the movie, which I'd seen when it first came out. (James Spader? He needs to call me.) Tonight I watched that and watched the series pilot and drank wine and ate snacks.

And now I feel much, much better.

I figure I'll need to get through S1 before I start reading (or writing!) any fic, but I'll be sure to post when I need some recs and chat and icons. The show looks good. I fully anticipate fangirlishness.

And, hey, it kept my mind off Harry Potter for 4 hours!

Yay! :-D Except, once you get through season one, you might find you also want to get through seasons two and three at a minimum before you start writing. It's a weird (but cool) thing with Stargate; the canon is so enormous and still so open-ended, and the characters change so much (in good ways) over the course of the show...Daniel evolves over many seasons, from scientist to full member of a military team, for instance. Same for all the rest. Wow, I love that about the show - genuine character evolution. So rare. And huge, complicated, gorgeous plot arcs. Yum.

Here's hoping you have all sorts of fangirly reactions to the show...watching people get hooked on Stargate is great fun. *g*

Is that SG fangirlishness I see budding away there? It is! It is! Happy day indeed.

Yay! I just finished the last ep of S3 last night, and it made me sad--but now that we can start chatting about the show, I am happy again *g*.

Should I spend more of my time at the weekend watching SG or writing HP? Hmm?

You should do both! *g*

My HP ideas are still percolating--no actual writing done yet, but a little bit of mapping out. And rereading, of course.

You're not demanding at all, are you? *g*

Hey, I just expect perfection! That's not too much to ask *g*.

I do hope to have some substantial writing done by the end of the weekend, although I'm busy most of Sunday. And it is, as I had predicted, Percy, not SB/RL, that's in my brain.

Percy fic is almost as good *g*.

I haven't written a thing today. I spent four hours today helping my landlady clear out some trees and bushes. I got to use a chainsaw! That was fun. I liked it.
