I've read the book. No spoilers here.

I have finished reading OotP. More on that in a later post.

But I did keep a little photojournal of the day I spent waiting to get my hands on the book.

I know it will be hard to get through Friday, so I bring Gryffindor!Draco (defender of right, helper of the helpless, ultimate power in the universe) along with me.

I get up at my usual quarter of seven, then realise that I don't know what to do with myself for the next hour. I'm avoiding all sources of news, not just email and LJ. So, I watch a Babylon 5 episode: The Coming of Shadows.

This is a pivotal episode. G'Kar, having failed in his mission to assassinate the Centauri emperor, has just realised that there may be some hidden spark of good in the Centauri after all. He buys Londo a drink. Londo has just ordered a lethal attack on the largest Narn colony and the look on his face as he takes the drink will be with me a long time.

Then, off to work. Work is rather boring today. I have insane amounts of work looming, but everything is with clients right now, so I've nothing to do. And no email or news to amuse myself with.

Draco tries to help and so does my duck, who usually helps me out with tricky coding problems.

I skive off early and head out for lunch.

Maki and tempura help take my mind off things. So does Sharpe.

I've only just started reading Sharpe -- this is my third book -- and I'm enjoying it a lot. I'll have to get the DVDs next.

But I'm still twitchy so it's off to the pub for a pint.

Draco inspects the Guinness to be sure it's properly poured. It is and so I have two. A bird can't fly on one wing.

In the evening, I have my weekly D&D game. I have to break some of my companions out of jail, which is quite exciting. I'm able to forget about the book for the most part. Sort of.

I should have gone to bed after the game, but I was too tense. So I built a LEGO kit that I'd had for a while.

Gryffindor!Draco slays a vampire. "Every single night, the same arrangement..."

Then to bed, finally. I sleep pretty well, considering, then wake up when my alarm goes off at 5 AM. My partner and I drag ourselves out of bed and over to the bookstore.

The bookstore is where he works and has the alarm codes and we go in to get me my copy! There are two girls camped out in lawn chairs and sleeping bags. I should take their picture, but I don't want to rub in that I'm getting my book right away.

Into the back room. Draco checks for signs of tampering on the boxes.

They're fine. I get my copy and head out.

Starbucks isn't open until six so I make some coffee at home.

And then -- 5:30 AM -- I put on Sigur Ros and I read.

Six hours later, I'm done.
