I love it when a plan comes together
Went out to see The Italian Job today. It was a extremely satisfying caper flick. It didn't try to be a better movie than it was. The heists were beautifully orchestrated -- it's like watching choreography in an old musical. I smiled all through the film. Must see the original now.
I wanted to snuggle Seth Green, lick Mos Def, and stare at Charlize Theron's breasts. Well, actually I did stare at Charlize Theron's breasts. So, bonus!
And where's my Charlie/Steve slash? (Mark Wahlberg and Edward Norton) "It's not over til I say it's over." *sigh*
The best capers are the ones where everything is ingenious, planned to the last second, and nothing can go wrong. And then something goes wrong. But they make it anyway, because they are smart and they are adaptable.
Though I'm fond of the "massive coincidence" genre too, like Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels. Because there, it's the plot that comes together, everything converges, and it's the writer, not the characters, who pulls it off.
In other news, I've got the Buffy S4 DVDs now, but my SO also got Charlie's Angels S1, so it's anyone's guess when I'll have a turn at the TV again.
