Decisions, decisions

I was getting all set to write up my [livejournal.com profile] spring_fluff (PoT) sign-up when I realised that [livejournal.com profile] remixredux (multi-fandom) is around the same time. I can do one, but I don't think I can do both. So now I'm like a donkey with two piles of hay.

I used to do way more challenges and fests all the time and some really great stories came out of that. But I also found that I lost some of my own stories, things I had in mind but had no time to write. And by the time I did, the moment had passed. On the other hand, I feel like I'm writing too much of the same stuff right now, so maybe it would be good for me to do both.

What would you do?

And to all of you who are jumping into Hikaru no Go, I would like you to keep this in mind as you think about writing fic: "Ogata/Ashiwara, NC17". There can never be too much of that.

[identity profile] marksykins.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
DO BOTH. Because I am. :)

Oh, fine. Just flip a coin -- odds are we're going to be assigned to write for either each other or Mousapelli in one of them anyway.

Ogata NC-17 ANYTHING is fine. Because Ogata is the best dirtywrongcrossgenallpairer this side of Sakaki. Or someone should write Ogata/Sakaki, though I fear for the outfits.

[identity profile] marksykins.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Like I ever have time for anything I sign up for. ♥

...Or you could just write that. Gah gah gah.

[identity profile] marksykins.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
It's the glasses. Or the cigarette. Or the repressed jealousy coupled with seething glances which are channeled into meaningless sex with women and other members of his Go group, possibly with a lot of wall slamming.

Um. Yeah.

[identity profile] mousapelli.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
for either each other or Mousapelli in one of them anyway.
We're like Gryffindors! I'm not sure i even know how to write for anybody else at this point.

I'm just doing Remix, I think. I know this sounds ridiculous, but I would sign up for spring fluff if i could just bang out whatever i wanted, but I don't really want to put up with somebody's random request at the moment, even somebody I really like.

well, now i sound like a jackass. Ignore me, I just was tormented by my family dragging me to the only bad Japanese restaurant in town (not like PA is sporting a lot of fantastic ones) and then making me sit at the Hibachi so I couldn't have sushi anyway.

[identity profile] marksykins.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh you are so silly. You should sign up for whatever you want to sign up for. ♥

Time to do my once a year website update for remix! :D

Ogata/Sakaki. Ogata/Sakaki.

owie. tough call.

I know that I will not be signing up for spring_fluff... mainly due to time contraints and another because I found that I really dislike writing forced PoT fic. I was very unhappy with the results for smex, and it nearly gave me ulcers to write as I just felt little for it until the day it was written. Even then I wanted to delete. And this is not how I like exchange fics to go. I like to enjoy them, to have fun with them, to be ok with the outcome.

This is how it always worked in HP.

I think I may shuffle back to the Loveless fandom, where there were only 4 of us. Yeah. That sounds nifty.

or maybe I will write some d.grey man fic.

happy Saturday Hal. Is it time to hit the pubs yet?

[identity profile] shikishi.livejournal.com 2007-01-07 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah,. Perhaps that was the down side to the smex.. it was too open ended for for me, while at the same time needing very specific things.

ha. oh how I love Loveless. It only gets creepier as it goes on. I have everything right up to the most recent monthly and while it has some glitches as far as story line goes, it is just so messed up that it makes me happyhappy.

But then I am very twisted and perverse human being.

I am so with you. Tomorrow is 2.50 pint day - which means a good book and noontime drinking.

[identity profile] shikishi.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah. your question.

do both. but I say this for purely selfish reasons.

You know, that Remix Redux thing sounds pretty interesting. I think I may sign up for it. I do know the feeling, though, about fic ideas whose moments pass and you just can't write them if you wait too long.

Five challenges in four months? That is a lot. I think I can come close, though. Uh. I participated in a monthly flashfic exchange ten times in eleven months. Only churned out nine fics, as I still owe one, but other than that... yeah. Bad idea, but good fic.

[identity profile] takewing.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
But I also found that I lost some of my own stories, things I had in mind but had no time to write.

I find the same thing is true for me. But at the same time I can't resist a fest/challenge/what have you.

I really have no advice. ...But seriously, do both. >.>

[identity profile] takewing.livejournal.com 2007-01-07 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
That's the spirit! :D *enables*

[identity profile] moshesque.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Remix Redux sounds awesome. I'd be more inclined to sign up for that because it's multi-fandom and therefore there are more options, and it's not limited to fluff. But I guess you should just go for which one appeals to you most. :D

Good luck with the decision!

[identity profile] knw.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I think you have a good point about mixing fests and own writing, so I'd do just one. It depends how bored you are though, and how much you want to write. Yay for less than helpful :D

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Why is Hikago only getting love recently? Oh well, I'm not complaining. As long as there is fic. :) Lots and lots of fic. Of any sort.

b/c i r smart

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2007-01-07 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
I normally don't write or read for it--until things like blind_go pop up and remind me how much I like fic for it, and then I am confused as to why I don't spend more fandom time on it usually.

But I have no complaints if you want to write Slam Dunk fic instead of Hikago fic. :D MitKo = ♥

[identity profile] lihsa.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I was actually thinking of signing up for Spring_Fluff myself (I'm even old enough!) but I don't think there's really much room for fanartists there :/ obviously this means I wouldn't sign up for Remix either way. Um, I probably couldn't be more unhelpful if I tried *_*

...Ogata/anything kind of scares me.

[identity profile] wickedcherub.livejournal.com 2007-01-06 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, I honestly think you could do both, but you would probably get more out of redux.

I'd get more out of you writing fluff, but that's just me :p

[identity profile] wickedcherub.livejournal.com 2007-01-07 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
Well, as much as I want you at spring_fluff, I know that remix is special, whereas the chances of you writing something semi fluffy in the PoT fandom in the next quarter is something like nanna jyu nanna pacento.

So since you're probably going to write something in PoT anyway that's semi fluffy it might as well be for the exchange! :p

[identity profile] wickedcherub.livejournal.com 2007-01-07 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
I think I meant kyu jyu kyu. I fail at Japanese totally.

[personal profile] venivincere 2007-01-07 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
Both. Oh, please, both. *wants your fic with a selfish, selfish desire*
venivincere: (Inui)

[personal profile] venivincere 2007-01-07 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Whine away, rely on me to soothe you, to do lightning-betas of your fics, to stroke your ego at every turn if you need it (but I can't see that you've ever needed it), whatever you want, I will be there. :-D

[identity profile] lynnmonster.livejournal.com 2007-01-07 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
Hee -- I was contemplating whether or not to do remix this year, too (although I don't have an either/or situation like you do)!

"Ogata/Ashiwara, NC17". There can never be too much of that.

WORD.

[identity profile] threefrog.livejournal.com 2007-01-07 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
So everyone's jumping into HnG now? I sort of got a hint when moshes mentioned it a few days ago, but... hehehe. oh well.

WRITE THEM ALL! FASTER!!! :D
:D
:D

[identity profile] goldie.livejournal.com 2007-01-07 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
Selfishly I'd say both, selfishly for you I'd say remix, for the same reason Cherub said. The fluff one doesn't have to be super-long though, which is a plus! *dangles s_f signups in front of you* I know you liked at least oneeeee :DDD

[identity profile] eliminate.livejournal.com 2007-01-07 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh crap, I completely forgot about the Remix sign-ups. Every year I want to do it, but end up putting it aside for Valensmut/Springsmut/etc. (this year it's [livejournal.com profile] their_white_day and the other two). I wanted to do [livejournal.com profile] spring_fluff, but there's no time. ):

Anyway, I added you. I think it's mostly because I rarely see any Kaidou!love and then I saw one of your icons. Yes. :D

/random

[identity profile] eliminate.livejournal.com 2007-01-07 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I think out of all the Kaidou pairings I love him with Inui or Ryoma. :x I don't really know why. Eh.

I've had years like that, but I always got too stressed out.

Yeah, but all I did for fall/winter was [livejournal.com profile] merry_smutmas, so I thought I should do a couple more. And a couple of my flisters are running the TezuFuji exchange, so I signed up for it. :D

I wish you luck! I'm sure you'll do great. Usually everyone can pull it off, even if it's a lot of work initially.
