Gratuitous squeeing lust post
Gacked from
greenet: a still of Pippin from RotK at TheOneRing.net.
He's so beautiful. Pippin was my FotR lustbunny. In TTT, I switched over to Eowyn (of course) and Gimli. This pic puts him back as front runner for RotK, for sure.
His uniform makes me all melty -- the white tree and the gloves. But it's the expression on his face that I love the most. A little grim and it suits him.
And next weekend I get to see both FotR and TTT up at the uni theatre!

But then again, they seem to have gotten most *everything* right. Despite the wrongness of Faramir and the fiddling of certain details, Jackson's LotR looks like the Middle-Earth inside my head most of the time. And that's why I love it.

And it really, really does.

Oh my, yes he is! Thanks for the link. I am so looking forward to seeing Pippin in RotK. Perhaps we'll get lucky and we'll get to see him putting the armor on. Wait - first he needs to undress - take off the scarf, slowly unbutton his shirt...
Ahem. Perhaps I have taken too much cold medicine today.
But it is sad that even though Pippin has always been my favorite character he didn't do much for me in TTT. During what was presumably meant to be his shining moment (turning Treebeard) he made me think of Baldrick from Blackadder, I could just hear him saying "I have a cunning plan!"

I'd have thought you'd want him to leave the scarf on, just take off everything else. *g*
I was disappointed by Merry & Pippin in TTT as well, though I didn't really think it was their fault. There wasn't a lot to work with.
I have to say -- I *never* thought of Baldrick in that scene, but now I probably will. *g*

Hee! No, I don't really want to see naked hobbits on the screen. I would like to see some kind of Poignant Scarf Moment, though. Maybe Pippin taking it off and carefully putting it away, or giving it to Merry for safekeeping before he goes off to battle. Or even better! Merry in Minas Tirith clutching the scarf while he's thinking about Pippin, off facing almost certain death ...*sniff*
If we don't get at least one good Merry/Pippin parting or reunion scence I will be bitterly disappointed.
There wasn't a lot to work with.
Yes, I blame the writers, so that's who I plan to track down and hurt if they don't do better in RotK.

Looks as if the movie has captured that feel. They've done the almost-impossible and I am delighted.
