Two years Prince of Tennis experience

I was looking at old entries in my LJ and found that it was two years ago this month that I came out about Prince of Tennis. Most notably, I said:

I don't anticipate that I'll be reading in this fandom a lot or that I'll be writing in it at all (or even posting about it much in LJ)

Oh god.

PoT sucks in our unsuspecting souls...

*points and laughs*

What surprises me the most after reading that post is that you were shipping TezuRyo almost before InuKai. Heh.

*snicker* oh how true that statement was. ;)

That icon wins at everything.

*laughing* Oh, man. PoT is the fandom that blindsides.

I want to laugh, but I can't because I'm almost positive I made a similar post in my LJ at one point. ("Taking a break from Hikago and upon recommednation, I'm now watching a show about middle school boys playing tennis. God, I don't think this relationship will last very long...") <-- heavily paraphrased

He must have! I watched more after one random episode because I thought it was so ridiculously bad it was worth few laughs. :3 And now, after a year and a half.. Well, I'm still there, and my opinion about it hasn't changed.

Ah, hindsight.

*coughs* ... *represses giggles* >.>

Oh, you're love. ♥ Glad you did actually write and brought us some wonderful InuKai and TezuRyo~ :DD

[identity profile] emcyclopedia.livejournal.com 2006-06-15 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I know. DD:

I swore I will never step into the anime fandoms because it'd ruin the canon.

... Look what I'm doing, right now.

*facepalm*

*snickering* I think there are fandom demons that keep an eye out for those kinds of statements. I know I'm a lot more careful these days about saying 'this is probably the only example of X I'll ever write..." because, sure as the sun comes up, next thing I know I've written some massive arc of the thing in question. Gotta be demons.

*gets that nice Recruiter's Glow* Glad to have helped. *grins* Or enabled, at least.

Yes! Absolutely. I've caught myself at it once or twice. "You know, I'd never actually write any [thing], I just...oh, hell, I just said that out loud, didn't I?" I try hard not to rule anything out completely anymore, because it just dooms me harder.

Hey, as long as you're having fun...

XD

It just sucks you in without you expecting it.

hijacked!

I'm so glad you love something so much. I LOVE love!

One day you will show me Prince of Tennis.

[identity profile] marksykins.livejournal.com 2006-06-15 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah yes. And I remember my fateful conversation with [livejournal.com profile] mousapelli about ...oh man, nine months ago already. "But I don't even like tennis!"

[identity profile] mitethe.livejournal.com 2006-06-15 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
*grin*

(My TeniPuri love began shortly after I pointed and laughed at the silly tennis manga on display at Kinokuniya. Oh, karma.)

Prince of Tennis : us :: Tezuka Zone : tennis balls?

[identity profile] disutansu.livejournal.com 2006-06-16 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
We shouldn't even try and just enjoy the ride! XD

I would like to laugh, but I remember when my sister first told me about PoT I was like "Eww, that sounds pretty lame." Said the same thing about Naruto and Hikaru no Go.

I hate hindsight.

[identity profile] i-smile.livejournal.com 2006-06-17 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Man. I have a friend who seems to get really into ridiculous things--assassins who run flower shops, demons & priests on a roadtrip across China, middle school tennis manga, medical drama-comedies. Of course I make fun of her taste, right? And then, within six months, whatever it is is eating up hours of my week. I should start paying attention when my instinct is to mock, just so I know what I'll be getting into next.

(I wasn't sure if my friends list would still talk to me after they found out that I liked Prince of Tennis, but it was such a relief not to have to hide it anymore after I came out.)
