Oh, the crack! It's magically delicious.

Tezuka, what is your lame excuse for not rushing onto the court and scooping Ryoma into your arms and out of harm's way? We know you are constantly daydreaming rescue fantasies about him. Now, faced with the real thing, you choke.

Lucky for you bad things never actually happen in this series. You completely deserve having your face covered up by a speech balloon on page 7.

Because tennis matches are SACRED. Under no circumstances should they be interfered with by spectators. Not even if your rookie is crouched on the ground bleeding profusely from one eye. Not even if your buchou drops his racquet and collapses, holding his shoulder and grimacing in pain. And certainly not because some piddling little light fixture fell from who-knows-how-many feet up directly onto the court. What the hell, there's plenty of time to dodge.

Also, doesn't it seem to you that the stadium they're playing in is poorly-designed and/or -built? Especially the lighting. I mean, first Momo plows into a pole, and now the infrastructure is falling apart...are they saving the good facilities for the high school tournament or something?

haha, that´s because poor Tezuka is a romantic at heart, but the rest of his body doesn´t follow.

Gah... TEZUKA. T_____________T

WHY DIDN'T YOU RUN AND SAVE RYOMA?
*falls onto knees and rolls around*

Oh, nevermind. Read first, next time, react later.

*laughs* I would have never noticed Tezuka's face covered by a speech balloon without you so kindly pointing that out.

Tezuka was too busy coming up with an expression to save Ryoma. Besides, he believes in him, right?

I do like the actual dialogue that Tezuka above engages in:

Atobe (p9): The reason Seigaku loses is because you turned over being the pillar of Seigaku to a first year.

(insert pics of various people reacting to the lights falling down)

Tezuka: I haven't turned it over yet.
Ryoma: ...That's right. I'm going to take it from him now!

XDXD That little exchange makes up for stupid light trick.

Haha, clearly, Tezuka's emotional circuitry is not correctly wired into his nervous system. This explains the broad range of expressions we know and love.
