Monday

I left my Slytherin House scarf on the bus. Because I was distracted by something I was scribbling in a notebook about Tezuka and Ryoma.

This depresses me on more than one level.

However, I should either be able to get the scarf back from Lost and Found or have a new one made. I wonder if I want it back once it's been in the transit Lost and Found. Can you wash a scarf? Will that take away the Transit System Ick? Or will it always linger in my mind?

In other news: Remix assignment! *cue evil laughter*

You can wash a scarf. If it's handknit and wool, just gently hand wash it with some woolite in cool water. Rinse thoroughly, and use towels to squeeze out as much water as you can, then lay it out flat. Use your hands (or pins, if necessary) to shape it, and just leave it alone for a while. A long while. Wool takes a long time to dry, but it should be fine.

Seconding [livejournal.com profile] memorycharm's excellent scarf washing advice. (Though I use a very small amount of a gentle, natural shampoo rather than woolite, because I always have that in the house and I never remember to get woolite.) And I hope you get your scarf back!

My friend the hardcore spinner advises against Woolite, and for a gentle shampoo.

if you cannot live with the funk of a transit scarf, I will seriously knit/crochet you another one solely as thanks for the knowledge that you were scribbling in a notebook about Tezuka. Do you have a squeeze bottle with your face drawn on it?

ahahahahahahaha. Yay Remix!

I'm sorry about your scarf. Hope you are able to get it back. And yeah, for me? Washing it would be enough.

If it's made of wool, you'd be best off taking it to be dry-cleaned. If cotton, you can wash it in the machine (in a lingerie bag, ideally) and hang or block it dry.
