Prince of Tennis Fandom Resources

When [livejournal.com profile] wickedcherub posted that she was ready to get into Tenipuri fandom, I went all fangirl crazy and spammed her journal with my scary, scary glee. (All shall fall!)

What she needs now, folks, is recommendations: who to friend, what to read, where to go. Who's hot, who's cool. Good archives, good communities, good sites.

Please post your suggestions here and we'll compile a good list of resources for people new to the fandom.

Communities

[livejournal.com profile] _tenipuri -- general talk, links to cool stuff, news, discussion, downloads, sometimes fic

[livejournal.com profile] tenipuri_yaoi -- slash/yaoi fic

[livejournal.com profile] potfics -- all sorts of fic -- not used as much

I have to run off to work now, but I will update the post later with more links and stuff.

I'm on waaaay too many PoT comms, come to think of it. x_x This fandom eats souls, warn your friend. XD

[identity profile] darkeyedwolf.livejournal.com 2005-12-01 11:40 am (UTC)(link)
But this is so general! Who does she ship? What's her school? Can she be swayed to like certain things? :))

[identity profile] wickedcherub.livejournal.com 2005-12-01 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
hahaha EVOL.

I have figured out that I'm a Seigaku girl - we really don't see enough of the other schools for there to be much depth, do we? It'd be like shipping Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws. :p

[identity profile] wickedcherub.livejournal.com 2005-12-01 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh. Thank you. Why do I get the feeling I'm really late to this fandom?

[identity profile] svz-insanity.livejournal.com 2005-12-01 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
You're not. :) Really. I got into the fandom last year right before the series decided to end, and it's a very active fandom. I've recently got a few of my friends interested in TeniPuri as well. :D

I'm a memories-whore, so if you don't mind digging through random categories, My memories have a lot of fics, separated by pairings and Gen fics are in the PoT section. :D

Cracky Link:

Crack Pot Site (http://nightsail.net/crackpot/uttercorn.htm). Hilarious site. The recaps are wonderful and I highly recommend the "Letters" and "Stick Figures" section as well.

I had another link on hand, but the site seems to be down. :(

Welcome to the craziness! Please enjoy your stay! *hands you complientary fruity drink with a paper umbrella sticking out of the glass*

And Hal-san's fics! XD

Hopefully my being an anon won't discredit me! I participate in the Prince of Tennis fandom, honest.

Some misc. info on/translations of the fanbooks: here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/ayatsujik/105504.html), here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/muscatlove/7709.html), here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/petronia/168949.html) (my favorite), and here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/petronia/170654.html).

Some fanfics:

Series:

Some might argue that Monnie's (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=sinsofwill) long Hyoutei "Roommates" series is a defining piece of PoT fanfiction, because it is long, long, long, long. It has a style and a method of characterization that's very much an acquired taste, but if one likes it, there certainly is a lot of it.

Squid (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=tintenfic&keyword=Prince+of+Tennis&filter=all) has started to write a disjointed sort of InuKai/AkuTaka universe that's at the bottom of these memories.

It's been a while since I read anything of theirs, but [livejournal.com profile] risquedreams and [livejournal.com profile] quillofferings are pretty well-known, and each have a few series of their own. (The former trends towards Tezuka- and/or Fuji- and/or Ryoma-centric fiction, and the latter has a lot of TezuFuji.)

To speak of personal preferences, I adore Figbash's (http://txq.nu/jumpyboys/viewuser.php?uid=34) InuKai-ish universe, which kind of relates to Werefox's (http://txq.nu/jumpyboys/viewuser.php?uid=43) very funny ficverse - and on both of these pages the stories are arranged by title, which is annoying, but can be read in order if one takes cues from the dates they were submitted.

And these aren't a series, but [livejournal.com profile] redheadtensai has written some of my favorite Prince of Tennis fanfiction. I think it's all offline right now, though, so one would have to request it from her personally - or from someone else who has it saved.

Rambly Present-tense Collections of Stories (mostly):

(I wasn't sure how to classify this section, but the gist of it can be gotten from clicking on the links.)

Two if By Sea's fanfiction (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=two_if_by_sea&keyword=my+fic&filter=all)

One if By Land's fanfiction (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=one_if_by_land&keyword=one+if+by+land:+fanfiction&filter=all)

[livejournal.com profile] sesame_seed's fanfiction: 1 (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=sesame_seed&keyword=fic&filter=all) 2 (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=sesame_seed&keyword=fic-ish&filter=all) (and something she posted recently (http://www.livejournal.com/users/sesame_seed/138085.html))

In a sort of summation, these authors and a ton of others participated in the subrosa (http://www.livejournal.com/community/subrosa_tennis/3469.html#cutid1) fic challenge last year; a few of these (I like 16 and 20) are excellent.

Now I'm kind of losing the "rambly" pattern, but [livejournal.com profile] ayatsujik (here (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=ayatsujik&keyword=PoT&filter=all)) and [livejournal.com profile] rageprufrock (here (http://glitterati.illuminatedtext.com/fiction/index.html#tenipuri)) are also writers of note.

Lastly, a bonus mention: [livejournal.com profile] torihiyo_fanboy holds the title of being one of the only people in the whole fandom to write about Hiyoshi Wakashi.

I think it has to do with me being anonymous. They worry that I'm going to post links to malicious viruses or something, so they strip away the html; I completely forgot that that happens, otherwise I would have formatted my comment a little more neatly to compensate. (But hopefully it's still readable!)

I think this is my final contribution, but two more fanbook-centric entries:
