Sock Season

A-- go to my fics and pick out a line or two from one of my stories.
B-- I will look at you blankly
C-- there is no C

Like I would be able to do that. I'm the one who accidentally used the same title for two stories. Granted, they were six years apart, but still.

I can't even remember to add extra time to my morning schedule to allow for Sock Season. The rule is no socks before October 1. After that, socks are allowed but still optional. Right now, it's chilly, so I am be-socked. My morning schedule:

6:00 AM - get up, make tea or coffee, make eggs or grab a granola bar, pack lunch
6:15 AM - sit at my computer and do LJ and email, write if I'm not feeling lazy, watch some toku if I am
7:45 AM - curse and then wash dishes, sometimes
8:00 AM - think, Oh, I should start getting ready for work, right after I play this song again
8:07 AM - think, Oh my god, I'm late, jump up, shower, dress, race around
8:30 AM - only catch the bus because I ran and the bus driver was kind

That's all without socks. With socks, we have an additional:

8:27:00 AM - put on pants
8:27:30 AM - realise I haven't put on socks
8:28:00 AM - take off pants
8:29:00 AM - put on socks (they're too long to easily put on when I'm already in my pants)
8:29:30 AM - put on shoes
8:30:00 AM - lace up shoes
8:31:00 AM - curse because lacing up shoes takes so much longer than putting on sandals
8:34:00 AM - miss bus

But at least my feet are warm.

ROFLing about sock season versus non sock season because, yeah, me too. Except mine aren't so long I have to take off my pants. And there's the fun, generally, of me finding my gloves too, because sock season means glove season since I have blood flow issues to my hands. So the time you lose in pants on and off I lose in "where the hell did I take my gloves off?"searching.

I don't have a problem when I wear a coat, but half the time I wear a wool cape, and I didn't make it with pockets.

...I'm noting there is no 'put pants back on' time in there? *giggles*

LOL! That sounds frighteningly like me in the morning. Only I haven't written as much as you, so I could probably pull off a good guess on the meme.

It was too nice to wear shoes and socks today, but I had a laundry crisis, so I wore corduroy pants with sandals. I felt odd, mixing warm weather footwear with cold weather pants.

I would suggest pants with wider legs to make the morning routine go faster, but I assume you would have tried that if you wanted to do so.

And I can't resist:

The Foo Fighters? thought Skinner. Does this have something to do with aliens after all?

:D This is the greatest post. I am sorry I won't be meeting you this weekend!

Ahaha! My morning schedule is much like yours, except usually not with that early of a wake up. And, dude, I hate you for living in a climate where wearing socks is optional in October.

Love,
Cosmic
who's had to wear socks since AUGUST.

I think thick, cream colored socks look good with Berkinstocks. /dork

Anyways, I emailed you at your website address - just wasn't sure if you checked that regularly or not. :)

*laughs* I swear I don't pull them up to my knees.
