As the last person on Planet Earth to get an LJ, I thought this might be all that was needed to kick us over into the Singularity. What do you think? Have we created a super-human intelligence?

So, I've moved in, still trying to get the whole friends thing sorted, and hoping to customise the look and feel at the weekend.

ObContent: You might enjoy the Ask Slashdot interview with Larry Niven that was posted on Monday. I did, anyhow, being a fan. (As you might guess.) One of the questions was about Elf Sternberg's (elfs) The Only Fair Game, which is an interesting little Kzin slash story.

I liked the abstract: "Within thirty years, we will have the technological means to create superhuman intelligence. Shortly after, the human era will be ended."

That "shortly after" cracks me up.

Maybe we're in the "shortly after" period right now. The human era could be ending any day now. But since we're all a part of the global hyper-consciousness, that shouldn't bother us, right?

Fictional Boyfriend. *g* Otherwise known as the yenta game, in which Cass and I and sometimes the Spike get together and discuss our friends' neuroses at length with the purposes of matching them with The Perfect Fictional Man. *g*

Close, but it's short for The End Of The World As We Know It. It got tossed around a lot at Y2K.

I don't know any Inuit, though I did go see Atanarjuat: The Fast Runner. And there were some hot mamas in that film.
