Le weekend.

On Saturday, [livejournal.com profile] mommybird and I had our Wah! We're not at Escapade! chat. After the obligatory "Neroon is hot" bit, we got onto Alan Rickman. More specifically, we discussed the Alan Rickman Con. There could be panels about all his movies, about fanfic based on his movies, sessions where we all sit in the dark and listen to The Voice.

Then we talked about what we'd like to see him wearing. She suggested, and I quote, "A cassock and surplice. A proper surplice, down to the ankles nearly with the points of the sleeves touching the hem." And I said, "Oh, god."

I think that about sums it up.

Today I watched a few episodes of Trailer Park Boys S3 while answering LJ comments. God, I love that show. S4 starts in April; hopefully there will be a S3/S4 DVD set soon after. Also, I saw that BBC America was going to show it so you Yanks may get to see this brilliant Canadian show after all.

My love for Ricky, my trailer trash boyfriend, knows no bounds. Today, after what was probably his worst day ever, he was sitting in his car (where he lives) with the TV on the hood, watching The Littlest Hobo and singing along with the theme song. I melted.

Worked on my [livejournal.com profile] femslash04 story. I must finish the draft tonight. I opted to do one of the wildcard pairings and so I'm writing for a fandom I've never done before. Actually, it's not a "fandom" but I don't know what word to use there.

We do that all the time now, use the word fandom to mean the source material -- the book or tv show or movie or video game -- we're using for the story, even if there's no actual fandom around it. I think we need a better word. Any suggestions? Maybe "source" would do. Setting?

I also just finished up Stargate S5. More on that later.

It's Sunday night. I still miss The X-Files.

Hmm. It seems to me that wherever you have one fan writing fic (and, presumably, looking for other people to read it) you have a fandom, however small.

Maybe fans are atoms in an element called fandom, and even a single fan can exhibit the properties of fandom, like single magnetized atom, but you need a certain number of atoms to even be able to see the magnet, much less use it to stick something to your fridge and -- no, this analogy's going nowhere. Maybe I should try getting some sleep on Sunday nights. ;-)

Well, following on [livejournal.com profile] idlerat's discussion from last week, I suppose the technical word would be 'canon', except we use that differently in, um, fandom.

After the obligatory "Neroon is hot" bit

you wouldn't, maybe, possibly, have recs for actual decent fiction with Neroon? Possibly even slash? *hopeful look*

part of me feels the same way about B5, but I do remember some very very good fanfic around '96, '97 - and then it all went *poof*, and I didn't have it saved.

And sometimes, I get a tiny craving for B5 fic - and most of what's out there is bad. I think I've seen Neroon/Marcus... *mpreg*.

Granted, I like some mpreg, but that was not one of them...

(hm, now that I think about it, I agree on the Delenn/Naroon. Damn. Fantasizing about them will not make my work very productive today...)

It's Sunday night...

I thought I was the only one...and then when I read "it's Sunday night..." I thought you might burst into a rousing rendition of "David Duchovny" *L*

I like the idea of source, though my theory on the word "fandom" is just this--if one person likes something, they are a fan. If even just one other person likes it, poof, it's a fandom. So in theory, you could have a Ben and Jerry's Half Baked ice cream fandom, if you and a friend both really liked it. And then Ben/Jerry stories would come from that fandom...

Maybe I got up a little too early today *L*

Cheers!

I used to have a copy of the in-house vid they made for that song, but I lost it in a crash, darn it!

Don't know if I could send you a copy, but I've got it on my hard drive at home... Write me if you want me to try!

A cassock and surplice. A proper surplice, down to the ankles nearly with the points of the sleeves touching the hem.

I got sidetracked here for about ten minutes while my imagination ran wild. Then a few more minutes got spent beating Catholic guilt into submission. Then more minutes imagining.

I also like the idea of using the word "source" but it sounds less... inviting, less friendly, than "fandom". Ficdom? Sourcery? (Sorry, couldn't help myself.) But I know what you mean: fandom has specific connotations and not everything falls into the category. < / entirely unhelpful post >

And instead of an autograph table, you could set up a confessional booth, where we could confess all our deepest darkest thoughts and be told what naughty girls we are....or, um, maybe that's me. But I'd come to that in a heartbeat!

And I would never leave.

**It's Sunday night. I still miss The X-Files.**

Amen.

Yeah, I went to bed thinking about that, and woke up thinking about it. I'm not losing that visual (audio?) anytime soon .
