Happy birthday! As someone not in the LoTR fandom (in fact, read the books once as a child, and did manage to see the first movie on DVD, but that's it) I probably have no right to read or comment on LoTR fic, but hey, it's you, and I thought Merry and Pippin were spot on for each other even when I read the books all those years ago, so of course I had to dive right in!
