I'm pleased to see you mention this, because back when I was idly watching random SG episodes trying to get my fannish on, it was this incident that ultimately turned me off to the show. I'd already been feeling that it was too militaristic for me, but making a sun go supernova to wipe out an enemy fleet was just way too far over that edge for me.
