Yeaaaah basically, this. I haven't read the interview yet, and maybe I won't, but my feeling on stuff like this is - what's on the screen is canon. If there are extra details that I need to dig for with the virtual equivalent of a shovel and a metal detector, then it ain't canon.

This kind of thing comes up in some of my other fandoms too. Frustrating as hell when people are telling me that the author's Disqus comments should be considered canon. Nnnnno.
