Fireside chat

I think I'm all caught up on email and comments now. If I've not replied to you, or if you just feel like it, smack me upside the head.

.

I've answered the questions people asked of my characters: Skinner, Krycek, Oliver, Marcus, and Adrian. I'm still open to questions, if you'd like to add one, either in that entry or here. Thanks, question askers!

.

A bunch of people have friended me in the last couple of days, which is pleasing, but a little surprising to me too, just because of the unusual volume. Some due to Stargate, I'm sure, but I'm not sure that all the new folks are here for that. Hi, new folks, and welcome!

So this seems a good time to write my LJ Friends Manifesto.

1. Anyone is welcome to friend me. You don't have to ask me or explain yourself or anything. I'm just pleased that you have me on your list. Thanks!

2. I'm not able to friend everyone back who friends me. It's a matter of time constraints -- I'm already struggling to keep up with the journals I'm reading now. But I do check out the journals on my "friend of" list from time to time. And I never lock posts anyhow. (Well, maybe twice, but those posts were really boring.) So there's no Sekrit Stuff that only people on my friends list are seeing.

3. Anyone is welcome to drop me too. You don't have to tell me why or worry that I'll be hurt or offended. People's interests change, schedules change, and maybe I'm just a lot more boring than you thought I'd be. So, no worries and thanks for hanging out.

4. If you feel like it -- and I stress that there is NO obligation here -- take a moment to introduce yourself, even if you've been reading for a while. I'd like to know more about you. Yes, you there, in the purple.

5. Arr!

.

And now off to watch the Stargate ep I taped last night and hope that Thor makes an appearance. My weekend project is to seek out Jack/Thor fic. Theirloveissostrangeandbeautiful.

Just introducing myself. I'm Alexa, and I'm a fan of your fanfiction, so I friended you. Hello. :)

I'm Layna - remember you from TPM, XF, etc. Someone rec'ed "Tactics", and thus I learned you have an LJ. :-) Also a marvelous story. :-)

Hi. I'll admit to friending you after [livejournal.com profile] destina said you were looking for Stargate recs. Of course by the time I got there, you were well taken care of. Then I realized that you were rec'd on my recs list (for The Rose, The Thorn, The Blood, and The Moon) and I should check out your journal. So that's why I'm here.

I write under the name of zillah in both Stargate and Harry Potter. I have LotR and Sentinel reading tendancies as well, but shy away from writing in those fandoms. I write under rachel in popslash though no longer frequently. I have an almost unhealthy love for David Bowie and have frequent rants about his music.

I can't really think of anything else at the moment. Um, I like cheese? Not a very helpful thing to know. But yes. Nice to have you on my list. :)

And I shall leave you with the best Jack/Thor fic ever (and really the only one I've found). So beautifully written and heart-breaking and life-affirming. So good. I love it dearly.

Gone Fishin' (http://www.area52hkh.net/kai/fishin01.htm) and it's sequel: Long Fire (http://www.area52hkh.net/kai/fishin02.htm) by Kai.

*facepalms* Nooooo! *g* Well, I'm going to go with zillah's rec of Kai's stories, above. Those are the only decent Jack/Thor stories out there. Thank god! :-D

[identity profile] neeteeus.livejournal.com 2003-08-07 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
Hi! Gwen here.

I'm a fan from some time back, I think originally from TPM. I get a kick out of reading friendsfriends view, and I think I was first attracted to your user icons on LJ (I love the white one with just 'HAL' at the bottom!). I decided to investigate, and was surprised to find out that 'prillalar' was indeed Halrloprillalar! And happiness ensued.

I remain mesmerized by your posts (not just the fiction, but the everyday stuff!), and I'm superkeen on the fact that you take the time to respond to comments and critiques people leave you. Thanks for that!

I friended you a while back, but I thought I'd say hi anyway. =D Feel free to drop by (http://www.livejournal.com/users/neeteeus) anytime!

I'm Mel, and I like your fiction and your meta and your ramblings in general.

Yay! Jack/Thor! Welcome to the Gray Side!

*theirloveissoalien and pure*

There really isn't much fic, alas, apart from Kai's fabulous stories which have already been mentioned. Most of the J/T love has been of a more, shall we say whimsical and tongue and cheek nature. [livejournal.com profile] kist, a devoted J/T junkie has a recap of the J/T lurvehere (http://www.livejournal.com/users/kist/27103.html).

The J/T lurve really is the wave of the future in this fandom. I see it, yes I do. ;-)

Hey, Hal, my name's Debbie, also known as Starfish. Fandoms include due South, Stargate, XFiles, Sports Night, and Smallville. Love British humour, especially Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams.

Am I hallucinating or did you write a "Mulder in drag as Marilyn Monroe" story? Off to check...

Hal, do you remember me?

Hmm. I'm not really as frightened by that as I should be. I recently made a vid featuring Daniel and Mulder, so I don't have much room to talk. *g*

Hello,

I found you after Destina mentioned you'd fallen in love with Stargate. I liked what you had to say about the show and am looking forward to hearing your impressions on season 3.

This Thor situation is getting desperate, and it's all stemming from that evil cesspool a little bit south of here. Must. Stop. Widget. Now.

I know what Blackadder is (I think), but haven't really watched it.

Re: Mulder-lyn -- I loved it! I think Shrift recced it, and I remember being at a library (using their 'net access) and trying hard not to laugh out loud.

And then when I got home, I forgot to find the site again to bookmark it...

You and Layna are both friends of mine. *g*

Definitely with you on the cheese and potatoes. Not a huge beer fan unless it's Yuengling. I'm a hard alcohol girl. :)

Honestly, as [livejournal.com profile] destina said, those are the only good Jack/Thor stories. It's a hard pairing to write and most people don't even try.

[identity profile] pearl-o.livejournal.com 2003-08-07 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
hmm. I'm Pearl-o (or erica, when people get personal). I write mostly in Smallville, so far, but I read all over the place; I think I found your journal in one of my periodic searches through the friends of all *my* friends -- when enough cool people want to read someone, it's worth taking a look to see what's up there, right? -- and then found it interesting.

[identity profile] carmarthen.livejournal.com 2003-08-07 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Not officially, alas, but it's a major hobby at the moment. Well, reading about it is. Books make me poor.

[identity profile] vonniek.livejournal.com 2003-08-07 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Hullo, etc.

Came across your LJ while idly surfing on [livejournal.com profile] barkley's friendlist. I remember you from The X-Files, where your fic used to make me pee myself with laughter (A Man's Man is a particular favorite.) Then you say you're now watching Stargate! How can a girl resist?

I like your LJ Friend Manifesto. No mush, no fuss, and sensible-like.

[identity profile] dagnylilytable.livejournal.com 2003-08-07 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Darnit, you missed my purple shirt yesterday, which, oddly enough, is my XF shirt, where I found you way back in the day when you got interviewed on Chron X. Plus I'm pretty sure "Unmarried Mother" amused me.

I came floating in from some acquaintanceship I can't trace anymore, but the HP discussions have kept me coming back. I even brought up your memory charms entry IRL the other day.

Taking a poll...

[identity profile] dagnylilytable.livejournal.com 2003-08-08 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
how many you'd find who *weren't* in TXF fandom.

Well, my primary writing fandom of the moment, Alias, has a lot of people on their first fandom, but the point is well taken. Even when I was really into ST: Voyager, there were some philes around.

I think it's about time someone formed an LJ community where we can have group therapy about all the residual bitterness. And everything we learned about how to maintain a fanbase/good show by doing everything Chris Carter didn't. ;)

On second thought, there's meta fic about Mulder and Scully in therapy that should do the job.

I, like many, remember you from those days of yore and X-Files fanfic. Our fandoms haven't crossed paths since, but that's the good of LJ. I can be in Smallville and still hear you talk about hobbits and pirates. Arrrr. To quote rule #5.

Now I'm going to do something I rarely do. I've waited six years, but I'm finally going to ask about your screen name. Please explain the origin of "Halrloprillalar"? Please?

[identity profile] ex-niciasus652.livejournal.com 2003-08-08 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
Hi,

I've been reading your journal for the past month now, and came here by the way of [livejournal.com profile] kestralsan.

I currently write in the CSI fandom. That is when I find the time. Lately, I've been on this heavy reading kick in mostly X-Files, Smallville, and now POTC fandoms. There are only so many hours in a day. :-)

Hobbit pirates? They just...they're so short and clumsy, and I can't imagine they'd be any good on a boat. They'd get tangled in the rigging.

Also, Hobbits? Not your fiercest creatures. They'd have a hard time with the mindless pillaging and raping. They'd make very funny pirates. But if anyone could write it, it'd be you, Hal.

As for being nicknamed "Beep" -- that is pretty terrifying. Plus Harkabeeparolyn doesn't have near enough L's in it. Much easier to spell, too.

Hi

[identity profile] implebeian.livejournal.com 2003-08-08 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I’m Whitney, lurker extraordinaire. I was lured to your journal by your Marcus from “In Love” and then, I went to visit your fanfics page and I thought, ‘Ohh, this is the person that wrote “Sick List” and “Chase” and “Break” and “Flying” and all the goodie Marcus/Oliver drabbles’ and I’ve been lurking here ever since.

I’m not very verbal and I don’t really know how to tell you how much I love your writing. [Jumping up and down and clap my hands while shouting ‘I love your fics. Your fics are the bomb’ seems perfect for a mental image. XD] I just do. A lot.

Hmm...apparently, I ran out of things to say. So. mmm...Hi. ^_^

PS: I’m adding you on my friend list. You can’t stop me now. Muaa-ahh-ahh!! XD

But then...ah, then! Because it *is* possible to love someone different from yourself, even if that person has no discernible external genitalia.

Yes it is, and Jack clearly loves Thor. His expression always softens when he talks about Thor. There is definite affection there and it is well worth exploring.

And hee! to your icon. :)

Rightbackatcha! TWTIT! Ha!
