When I say "small town" I mean *small*. I think it's classified as a village, but it could be a hamlet.
Trips to cafes for a change of pace/temperature, ideally fortified with frothy hot beverages.
There is one, where they "proudly serve" Starbucks coffee from a single urn and make espresso in an automatic machine. I've been once and will be going back, since the coffee is better than the pre-ground Tim Horton's my mother has. Luckily, it's really close, since it's too cold to walk far. -9C when I went out earlier.
Checking out the local library.
The community lost their local library (which was TINY) several years go. My mother campaigned to save it, but to no avail.
Dragging the fam to a movie. Gives everyone something to discuss afterward, and 90 minutes of relief from having to talk.
This is the family that was not *allowed* to attend movies when I was growing up. My parents are more relaxed about that now, but it's not really an activity that we would likely do. Plus god knows if anything good is showing in Moose Jaw (15-20 minutes away). Also, unrelated to the smallness of the town, I'm wearing an old pair of glasses at the moment and my distance vision is so bad it's difficult to watch TV or similar.
Scrabble. Scrabble is an excellent family coping strategy.
We did that one already. :)
Tomorrow is the family reunion/birthday party. That should be tiring but fun. And it's in a different small town.
Anyhow, I'm feeling better than I was -- I'm still not sure why I was so out of it. Now there's just the noise of rambunctious children to deal with. :)
