It's an acquired taste. I used to dislike it vehemently, but after a trip to Dublin, I can tolerate it -- I had to learn to, to survive all the pubs we hung out at. Throwing up at the taste of Guinness would not have gone over well, I think.

Beer has a nice convenience to it, too. It's a casual drink in a one-serving size, unlike wine, which is normally my preference.

I wish I had beer. Sadly, my suitemate has already moved out and absconded with all the liquor. I'm moving off campus next year and I'm very thrilled about having a refrigerator in which I can store cool beer and wine for the odd times I want a drink. :)

Really. I check it every day. There's not much good fic there, but it's the bad fic that I really like, and not just to laugh at it. There's often something very honest and soul-baring about that stuff; it's like reading Ed Wood.

It's an oatmeal stout from a local brewpub. It's very dark, smooth, not too carbonated, unpasteurized, and served at cellar tempurature. I wish I had some now.

I had to learn to like it, but it only took me one six-pack. (One a day, not all at once!) Also, maybe you've only had horrid cheap beer. The beer I drink doesn't seem terribly bitter to me.

On the other hand, my partner decided he had to learn to like beer but even though he tried and tried, he never began to enjoy it. I guess some people are just born without the beer gene. :)

At work, I keep the Guinness in the server room. Which you would think would be warm, but we only have one server and the room shares a wall with an unheated garage space. So it's always nicely cellar temperature.
