Random tenipuri flailing.

Well, I guess it's not that random, because mostly it is flailing about ep 164. The AO sub dropped today and so I watched it, even though, like ep 163, I've watched it a bunch raw and then in the Shinsen sub. Because it is love.

This is the episode that makes me believe that they are really in junior high after all. Because CODE NAMES. Snake 1! I just want to hug Kaidoh to death when I hear that. And, honey, you can't be undercover and wear your trademark bandana. Let us see your pretty hair, okay?

So, the main thing about this ep was the Kaidoh fanservice. I still have these caps up from when the raw dropped:





Just. The bicycle shorts. The arms. The headset. THE CODE NAME! And, oh my god oh my god, the fingerless gloves.

Okay, I forgot what else I wanted to talk about.

Oh, right. I think Momoshiro probably had an epiphany right about then. One that made him want to kill himself but yet was just so undeniable.

Forget all the pillar of Seigaku stuff. This show is really just about the Hotness of Kaidoh.

The club mix stuff was funny. (But let's not even talk about Oishi, okay?) And I've always thought this:





was foreshadowing for Prince of Tennis being cancelled and Eyeshield 21 taking their timeslot. Also that's probably the most jailbait-y Ryoma ever.

I cry, cry, cry that we did not get a good look at Kaidoh in his swimming trunks. Cry.

And then the moment that Tezuka returns and everyone is so happy and so am I and You Got Game plays and the images from -- which credit sequence is that? Anyhow, it's all so lovely and flail-worthy.

And then this, which also makes me cry, cry, cry:



Tezuka holding Oishi's hand, but looking down at Ryoma. It kills me every time.

But not as much as the fingerless gloves.

I really really love that episode. It makes me teary with happiness. Just the joy of them all together like that and back at full strength and fdks;lfasd

I ship both Tezuka/Oishi and Tezuka/Ryoma so these things just get me coming and going. And my heart always breaks for Oishi no matter what.

But then I look at Kaidoh and I feel better.

Their dynamic... I don't even know what to do with that. I am definitely more emotionally invested in the TezuRyo, but gahh, Oishi. :(( There are these moments and looks that make me want to put things back together in a way that works out for him. I guess Golden Pair is the easy solution, yeah, but Tezuka/Oishi angst is really, really pretty.

I think I'm at the point where I'm actually more invested in Tezuka/Oishi, but it's a close thing either way. It just ... their journey together, their dream. And it's so the whole shounen sports thing, which I am a total sucker for.

I'm probably the only person in the universe who doesn't find the GP slashy at *all*. I think people who have never heard of the show probably would tell you that they are married. But I just don't see it.

Really, the most disturbing thing about Oishi in the leotard was his apparant total lack of any package.

You're right -- I was just so Kaidoh-focused that I didn't notice the lack of Club Mix Inui! He was probably just lurking around ogling Kaidoh.

I really, really, really want there to be a spin-off where Inui and Yanagi give up tennis and take up baseball. I'm getting chills just thinking about it.

I think that GP have the potential to be together, but I agree with you that right now they aren't "married" or anything, and I do get a little :| when I see all these stories with them as this undeniable established relationship in the background. I like the dynamic they have together, though, and their happy endings make up for the angst I seem to gravitate towards with the other pairings. Still. I think Oishi is/will be hung up on Tezuka for quite a while.

I do enjoy a good GP dj (and the one that your icon is from -- rawr!) and I like to read about them from time to time.

I think part of the problem is that they do get assumed to be together as a background pair. And that leads to Everyone Is Gay, which I have trouble buying in serious fic.

I've had to relax that a bit with PoT because, clearly, everyone *is* gay, except for Momo who is bi (or so he keeps telling himself). But if too many boys get paired off in one story, I just can't deal.

Well, except for standard pairings prom stories. I can't get enough of those.

I have this friend who is so utterly Inui that it's scary, and he is watching Tenipuri now at my behest, and he is strangely obsessed with Kaidoh, and so of course I spam him with InuKai screencaps all day long. It is such fun!

actually, i think the same way. when i first began watching the show, i thought they had a lot of potential. but as the anime progressed, i saw less possibility of them being together together -- i could see them as being best friends, but not as boyfriends. to tell the truth, the huge amount of GP fanfic/art in fandom turned me off the pairing even more. :\

AO's catching up to the last batch of crack episodes, huh? that reminds me i haven't watched the raws or subs for a lot of the episodes between the american arc and the last few episodes of the series. the screencap of ryoma in a football uniform has convinced me that maybe i should download some of these episodes (that and the screencap where kaidoh looks like he's molesting those two unsuspecting boys).

I haven't been turned off them at all -- I still like to read and see stuff about them. But it just doesn't have the canonicity or inevitability for me that it does for a lot of people. And they don't spark for me. And Oishi belongs with Tezuka. :)

You should really watch those crack eps. They are a lot of fun -- really amusing and lots of good character stuff. Next ep they move into another round of ranking matches and things begin to be fraught with emotion as we move towards the end.

*sigh* A year later and I'm still not ready for it to be over.

Kaidoh is the worst, most adorable spy ever. His little headphone attachment kills me every time. I know they're common, but I like to pretend Inui gave it to him so they can talk while Kaidoh is training. :)))

It's great how the ep goes from crack to serious just like that. I love how happy everyone is.

Exactly. I don't like when the pairings appear SO jigsaw-puzzleish that everyone has their OTP and they all fit together and the ending brings everyone satisfaction. Because then it's just not realistic.

But oh wait, we're talking about tenipuri here. It's total crack. But then... I guess that's why Everyone is Gay works, but only really in crackfic/funny fic. In more serious/angsty/dramatic stuff, it does end up a little predictable and if you're left with two single boys at the end, even if it's, like, Horio and Tachibana, you just KNOW the author's going to throw them in bed together just to keep everyone happy at the end. o_O

Those are the good stuff, oh yes. It's odd because I think with TezuRyo, the everyone-is-gay bothers me even more than it would with other pairings. Just because TezuRyo is so lined with subtlety and takes SO LONG to develop and get them to, well, anywhere, because there's so much silence. *inarticulate* And then to have them get together along with the rest of Tokyo... seems to trivialize things.

There's something different about the way his eyes are drawn in the shot where he's leaning over the bike that makes his face look softer than usual. I love that shot.

And, really, ALL the shots of him from that episode, because OMG Kaidou fanservice! The boy has a BODY on him.

Can you imagine how unbearably hot he'll be when he's college age? Because you know he's still going to be in training.

And yes, the code names and really the whole thing did actually make them look like junior high kids for once. ^_^;;; Everytime I accidentally remind myself that Kaidou is in gr 8, I flip out momentarily. >.< Evil. And not fair. There sure as hell weren't any guys with bodies like that in MY gr 8 class!

There were a couple I knew in first year university, when I was still trying to be social; my best friend Neil, from my frosh orientation group, and a guy named Jeff on my floor in res. Jeff was my dance partner in swing class for a year, and MAN... he didn't look like much because of the baggy sweaters he preferred, but the boy had MUSCLES. He could lift me right over his head.

*giggles* Of course, I weighed a lot less back then... >.< I had the worst crushes on both of them. I have a weaknes for well built men, especially if they're tall. *sweatdrops*

He probably is NOW! That's why he runs or bikes everywhere, and doesn't take the bus. *laughs* He's not a shouta magnet like Echizen, but he's still DAMN hot. Especially when he's all formal in his school uniform and you can see his hair. *glees*
