all my friends (and family) in germany have "trained" their guys to sit down...there are often little obnoxious joky rhymes and cartoons in the bathrooms to enforce it.

i agree on it making it easier to clean (esp. when you have two uncircumcised boys who're not too good at pointing yet :-), but i'd still feel weird to demand if he doesn't like it...
