Goblet of Fire

Three things before the cut tag:

1. Fred and George own my soul.

2. Lucius Malfoy is pretty.

3. No matter how hard you look, you will not spot Atobe in the Hogwarts crowd scenes.

I didn't count the rest of the things.

* I liked it.

* But the production design wasn't near so good as PoA. There were less little touches of magic around.

* I forgot we weren't going to get any actual Quidditch and I was all hyped up at the World Cup. It took me a while to recover from that.

* But I also forgot we were going to see Lucius there and that was a very nice surprise. Both he and Draco looked very lovely.

* Everything was very rushed -- the pace was a bit difficult.

* I think I stopped breathing when Fred and George were on either side of Hermione, teasing her.

* Cedric was dreamy.

* Without Fleur being half-Veela, Ron's asking her out makes little sense. We know he's susceptible, but not that susceptible.

* I managed not to laugh out loud when my slash-addled brain recontectualized Harry's line to Ron: "I don't know what happened tonight. I don't know why. It just did." (Or something very similar.)

* The dancing lessons were great. And so was the Hogwarts Band. I love the way they've added the band and choir to the films.

* Not to mention hearing Hermione and Hagrid (and Ron?) singing the Hogwarts School Song! Hoggy Warty Hogwarts!

* I am so looking forward to seeing the dance scenes on DVD so I can peer closely at everyone. Was that Goyle dancing with a boy from Durmstrang?

* The visual effects were great -- I don't remember seeing anything and thinking it looked out of place. And the dragon was awesome!

* If we're not meant to see Harry/Hermione, they're doing a poor job of it.

* I liked the way the maze at the end was foreshadowed by the hedges in the first scene.

* And the maze itself was chilling. Very effective.

* Orochimaru is scarier than Voldemort. But even scarier than either of them was having to listen to Alvin and the Chipmunks sing the Chipmunks Christmas Song while we were waiting for the film to start.

* I still don't buy the plot of this one. It's my least favourite of the books and it didn't make any more sense like this.

* More Snape is needed!

* Dumbledore is seriously fucking with his own brain way too much. One of these days, he's going to pull a little too much out of there.

* I have some other thoughts, but they will have to wait until I can recheck book canon on some points.

Oh, and it seems we're meant to haul out our old GoF stories. I shall link you to Partners, of which I am rather fond. Crabbe, Goyle, and the Yule Ball.

Alvin and the Chipmunks sing the Chipmunks Christmas Song

...O_O *HORROR*
There were dancing penguins voiced by Robin Williams for the trailer at the showing of GoF I went to. Penguins > Chipmunks!

-- Will campaign right along with you for more Snape. My Snape/Hermione radar went through the roof, though, during that one scene with the adorable sleeve-twitching. Yes, it's a bad thing when a fifteen-year-old girl has that much chemistry with Alan bloody Rickman.

-- The twins are now legal. I wish they'd run an issue of Playwitch with them in.

-- I liked Deranged!Dumbledore but felt he was more fanon than canon. Then again, so was half the film... not that I mind. ^_^

-- Egads, I've half-expected fresh steaming Harmonian wank to come out of this film. Where is teh wank?

Aaaaw, I liked the penguins. I wanted to take one home with me!

Hermione should be acting close to RON not Harry. egads. And Snape. SNAPE!!! His lines could be counted on one hand. And the Karkaroff scene inside the storage closet...EGADS!! We were like..you, must not molest Snape! ^-^;; Plotwise, and Bookwise, it really wasn't that good. But I was amused. Really. I was giggling all throughout the movie. And is it just me or is the maze too BIG and it looked like it would take ten years to traverse? ^-^

pet peeve: Voldemort has no nose! And the Constant Vigilance!!! :((

i totally was dismayed by the lack of Quidditch, because the ten seconds of it was SO FSCKING COOL.

Man the Phelpses. When they were all up on Hermione, i leaned over to say "We've got a mini-fridge FULL of butterbeer!" and the person on the other side of me cracked up. Stereo! Couchio!

I cannot wait to see what's on the DVD. MMMMMM.

They got a new director, some Mike Newell, and didn't tell anyone. Why oh why didn't the Azkaban director stay? he was wizard! sotosay... but it seriously lacked punch in places. And Madame Maxime appeared to be Lily Tomlin on stilts. Not what I was wishing for our Hagrid.

No, I haven't. I will, though! *runs to IMDb*

What I read was that Cuaron had such a miserable time making the first movie, with all the studio and authorial expectations and suits breathing down his neck, that he declined to make any more.

It's a shame. He breathed a lot of life and adolescent hormonal fervor into the third film.

H/Hr? *ears perks up* Oooh. One of my first ships. ^_^ Am looking forward to it then.

* I think I stopped breathing when Fred and George were on either side of Hermione, teasing her.

Oh my god, me too.

I like them! Aww, any penguin possessed by Robin Williams can come home with me. ♥ And the dancing, and the gay hugging! it's a sign I've gone too far into slashland if I've thought about penguin love, isn't it? *hangs head*

I am really, really glad to have missed the chipmunks. HORROR! :O

Was that Goyle dancing with a boy from Durmstrang?

Crabbe, apparently. (And Draco hugging a Durmstrang-er at the end.) The Slytherin Trio were really rather blatantly out in this movie.

I kind of loved on Rupert Grint on some interview I flipped past; where he was earnestly and unconsciously explaining how the whole Yule Ball scene was about his jealousy over Hermione getting to go to the Ball with Krum, even though he's Ron's hero. Any/all heterosexuality just sort of passed him by. <3
