Hikaru no Go again

In all the Prince of Tennis excitement, I forgot to post that I have now finished Hikaru no Go. Or so I think. Manga-wise, I've read up to issue 189, plus two special chapters. I've watched anime up to ep 75, as well as the "Road to the Hokuto Cup" special. I have two other special files, but one of them is just a re-working of the filler ep about the teacup and the other looks like it's just a short "Happy New Year" clip before a regular anime ep. Have I missed anything there?

So now I put out the call for links and recs and any sort of spoilery discussion! Where is the HnG fandom? On LJ? Mailing lists?

And, yeah, okay now I see the Hikaru/Akira. (Is there a pairing word for them?) It wasn't there for me until the end, but then it was working. Not sure if I'll feel like writing them or not, but I should probably do some reading. If I do write, it will be to try to figure out Akira, I think. He's a bit of a cipher.

Isumi/Waya is a lot more likely for me. Such sweet boys. But I think it will be the Ogata porn that comes first. He'll give good porn, I know he will. And I've been in the mood to write something really dirty, something I could never write about tennis boys, for a while. (Even too dirty for Quidditch boys, I think.)

Somehow, the anime seemed longer than 75 eps. It was so intense. And the characters were really well portrayed. I must make myself some icons soon, to show willing. And I'm looking forward to watching it all again.

Well, I've only written one fic solo (http://www.livejournal.com/users/lynnmonster/114258.html) and one with [livejournal.com profile] thehoyden (http://www.livejournal.com/users/lynnmonster/110839.html), both (primarily) Ogata/Ashiwara.

I guess [livejournal.com profile] igo_yaoi is the place to go for fic, and [livejournal.com profile] best_of_hikago has lots of recs, many pairings.

*loves on pervy Ogata*

It isn't a very active fandom - it's rather teeny-tiny. So far as I know, [livejournal.com profile] igo_yaoi and [livejournal.com profile] hikarunogo are pretty much the only places to go (and they're heavily crossposted between).

I'm not aware of any part of the fandom of LJ.

(And Hikaru/Akira is sometimes referred to AkiHika or HikaAki - not very creative.)

I haven't found much in the way of a fandom, unfortunately. A few good bits here and there on ff.net, which I don't have links for.

There's a Hokuto Cup special? REALLY? I thought they didn't animate that part! Where can I find it?

Not that I've actually finished watching the series. When I bought it, I was assured it was the whole thing, but I'm missing the last thirty or so eps. >.

I need to find the Hokuto Cup episode. *sighs*

>.<;

But yay! Hikaru no Go is sooooooo good. *loves it* Ogata porn? Bring it on! ^^

[livejournal.com profile] igo_yaoi is the only hikago community i follow (nowhere close to the posting level of [livejournal.com profile] tenipuri_yaoi, but the hikago fandom seems to be a fairly quiet one). as for fic recs, [livejournal.com profile] shinra_lackey has quite a few -- individual rec entries are listed in the memories section, i think. :)
ooh, may i ask where you downloaded the scanlations from? i've only seen the anime, but the manga is definitely on my reading list for the summer. ;)

Hi -
always happy to get another person into HnG fandom (hoping that it'll augment this tiny fandom). I'm always amused by Ogata's transformation from the dumpy dork in volume 1 to the smooth, suave ladykiller in the later volumes & the anime. Did he get plastic surgery? Isumi got a lot prettier, too, over the course of the manga.

This journal: http://www.livejournal.com/users/issen4/ has a lot of HnG recommendations and some good stories. Generally, I like the recommended stories.

There are some older stories that were written before the manga ended that deal with how Akira might've found out about Sai. One of my favorites is: Ghost, by Misha2
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/974552/1/
and its sequel, That Which Watches from the Shadows: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1241992/1/

Here's a gen fic (but w/ some slashy subtext) that's incredibly well done: In the Forests of the Night, by Murinae
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1311703/1/

This is a really good WIP that unfortunately hasn't been updated in a year, but I liked the characterization of Akira and Hikaru. Blind Descent, by Shikami:
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1337833/1/

One of my favorite stories - shonen-ai, Akira x Hikaru:
Conversations over a go board:
http://www.smuga-otto.com/kim/gomain.html

absolutely adorable short about what happens during that lunch break in their first pro game: Ramen, by Petronia
http://www.livejournal.com/users/petronia/57629.html

Another WIP that is worth reading - Touya gets married ... to a girl, even.
Inertia, by rageprufrock
http://www.livejournal.com/users/rageprufrock/158130.html
part 2: http://www.livejournal.com/users/rageprufrock/158346.html
part 3: http://www.livejournal.com/users/rageprufrock/159366.html#cutid1

I really like this story - spare prose, but something about it tugs at deep emotions: (Jigo, by Dracostella)
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1350429/6/

Hope you enjoy these stories as much as I have!

Looks like you've already got some links to the comms and such. Sadly, it's a much smaller fandom than one would think (there are plenty of doujinshi out of Japan, though).

The AkiHika doesn't hit absolute full strength until the end; before that it's mostly rather cute and entertaining, but once they grow up some more The Ghey kicks in, heh.

Waya/Isumi is a smaller subfandom, but it's definitely out there, and it also seems to be a fairly popular doujin pairing.

the japanese fandom is still quite active even though the manga and anime have ended approximately two years ago; i can give you a couple of links to the nicer fanart sites if you'd like XD
